Woke up at 3:30 am, left the house at 5:30 am to attend the 6 am mass at the Shrine of our Lady of Light Parish here in our town. I brought candles with me to be blessed. We had a short procession from the entrance of the church after the candle blessings.

Today we celebrate Candlemas. It marks the return of light, a symbol of protection and prosperity. It commemorates the presentation of Jesus at the temple of Jerusalem. He was referred as the light of the people of Israel. It is a Catholic festival. I read somewhere that it was observed as the official end of Christmas.

I dropped by Savemore Supermarket after the mass and purchased a few groceries. One good thing about being early is, there are no lines at the cashiers. Arrived home around 8 am.

Before I forget, you might ask, why candles? The lit candles signify the representation of Jesus being “the light of the world”. It can also symbolize many things: life, God, the Spirit, Christ, repentance, our prayer requests and many more.

Happy Feast Day of the Representation of Jesus.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
