I went out for a while this morning to have a hair trim and to send money to my brother in the province. Wow, almost everyone I met were wearing face masks. Some had washable cloth masks on, most were wearing surgical masks and a few with N95 masks.  I wore one too of course. Are we being paranoid here? I hope not. It just came to a point that everyone is aware that our government won’t take care of us. They can’t even provide face masks for free.  Where other nations have banned flights from China earlier in the week, ours was always “too late the hero”.

Earlier reports said that they are observing more than thirty one patients (that was as of yesterday) for possible infection caused by the coronavirus.

As usual their troll army is at work again. A writer friend had this shoutout on his wall: Name a country that in the face of a very dangerous health crisis deployed trolls instead of doctors.  There was also this site called Meme Buster which has screenshots of the same messages from different people making up stories that are not true. There was even one supposedly an OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker)  lauding and  praising China for having a nice work and high salary. I repeat,  Filipinos here in our country are not racist but they make us feel like we are inhumane and have no concern for our neighbors. It’s just that unlike those countries also affected by the coronavirus, we can’t rely on our government to take care of us.  Some commenters said that if China is that rich, then why do illegal Chinese come to the Philippines to establish those offshore gaming which is illegal in their own country? And there are those who are avid followers of the president branding Filipinos to be Anti-China or Anti-Chinese for simply being concerned with national health security in our country.  So much for this, perhaps you are all getting tired reading my rants.

I had a nice chat with a friend whom I haven’t seen for quite sometime. We touched on so many subjects and I told her she could come over for overnight stay during summer when there are no classes. She is a teacher in our province. What a lovely feeling getting in touch with old friends.
