I feel sad. I was just talking to a priest friend a while ago and he said that one of their fellow priests died yesterday because of cardiac arrest. He was only 55 years old.
I remember those days when they were together in our Parish and they also used to preside mass here in our subdivision. I remember the meaningful and uplifting homilies they used to share with us parishioners.
What they say is true. death comes like a theft in the night. One would never really know when the time comes. It is all in God’s hands.
This keeps playing in my mind. Would you prefer a sudden death over a prolonged illness?
Rest in peace Fr. Larry!
Sorry to hear about Father Larry, 55 is still a young age these days. But if his beliefs are true, then he has gone to a better place.
A sudden death is far better for the person who dies, undoubtedly. However, those left behind in shock and grief have no time to prepare themselves.
Best wishes, Pete.

Yes, 55 is too young. And I do agree, sudden death is harder for those who are left behind.

It is sad to lose someone you liked and admired, but as Pete said, he’s in a better place.

A good friend’s husband dropped dead last week while they were having their morning coffee. I think sudden is worse, though Imguess we don’t get to choose.

That’s sad to know Elizabeth. Yes, we don’t get to choose because God is in charge of everything.

It’s probably good that we don’t get to choose. Think of all the hard times we might have given up. I trust God’s timing much more than mine.

Just enough time to say goodbye would be fine for me. One wife died suddenly at 21; another at 59 after ten years of illness with protracted treatment. Neither would I recommend

One thing though, it would be nice if we could prepare ourselves to say goodbye, lesser pain perhaps to those we will leave behind.
