Sometimes, it is self-doubt that eats me. Considering my health problems now, I am so conscious of the days that I need more laboratory tests. It is a regular thing every four months. My previous endocrinologist has finally resigned from The Medical City Clinic so I have to go back to the one endorsed by my nephrologist at The Medical City Hospital.
I do get cold feet when the results are in and still my blood sugar is elevated.
I could do less of worrying and be more thankful for every blessing that comes into my life.
In the sweetness of friendship, let there be laughter and sharing of pleasures. For in the little things, the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.
Above quote was taken from the book The Prophet by Khalil Gibran, one of my favorite books that I have read through the years. It exactly describes what friendship is all about.
I was thinking of the highlights of 2025. Not much actually. Having laboratory tests and going to my doctor appointments were regular. But if I have to write about something spectacular that happened, it was meeting two friends who came over to visit me.
With me is Karen. We were classmates in grade school until her family migrated to the US for good. We lost touch for a while until we found each other again on Facebook. She is also retired now and chose to return to the country. She is having her own house built in the province. I blogged about our meeting last February.Malou has been staying in The Netherlands for the last thirty years having a family there. She visited me last July….finally we met personally. We first met at Multiply, that close-knit app which was more a favorite than Facebook. Over the years, she sent me a rosary from Siena, Dutch stroopwafels, prayer pamphlets and a lovely journal about the Netherlands. Then she brought an image of St. Francis of Assisi on her visit.
Having those lovely two and four hours of conversations about anything under the sun were so uplifting. We hugged, got teary-eyed in some memories that we shared but overall,we were deeply happy to see each other.
I have always said that when friends meet, hearts warm.
I remember Nate winning another medal in Taekwondo in February and earning a red belt last August. He is the one in blue here.
These were the highlights of 2025. We’ll meet my daughter Nissa’s family this Christmas.
It's been some years since I started this blog. Supposedly, it was only to share my plight as a cancer patient and survivor but over the years it has somehow evolved into something personal about my life and my family.
So really glad to have met you all wonderful people out there. Someone commented once that he liked the title of this blog, Dreams and Escapes. Dream on, there are more things in life than we really think. Be happy, you only live once. Sometimes you also need an escape from the vicissitudes of life and this blog helps me cope. Welcome. Feel free to leave your comments, I do welcome them.
It took me so long to access this blog, I wonder what happened really. It is always touch and go so I stay with my main blog Dreams and Escapes which you can access here. This is just a trial post once more. I could not even see the tags and categories….whew!
It’s been a while. I am reblogging this here from my main blog Dreams and Escapes. I hope you’ll find time to visit it to. My gosh, I got so excited when I saw it. There are several designs actually and all with Biblical passages. One of the vendors in our subdivision is selling them. […]
I can’t believe I haven’t touched and visited this blog like forever (an exaggeration of course) but I was so focused on updating my main blog so I forgot about this. Early this morning while I was watering the plants, I looked up at our jackfruit trees and saw this. I was hoping I could […]
