Amazing Leni

She could have been our President back in 2022  if she wasn’t cheated in the last election.  For three consecutive  years that she was our Vice-President, the Commission on Audit gave her an excellent rating. Despite the meager budget slashed by then Pres. Duterte on the OVP, she was able to carry on the job with the help of the private sector. Aside from the late Pres. Corie Aquino, she is the only honest, trustworthy, kind and dependable politician that I know. The best Vice-President we ever had.

She put up a private organisation called Angat Buhay after her stint  as our Vice-President, helping the needy, the destitute and impoverished  Filipinos through this foundation.  She was always  the first to extend her hands during calamities and such. I remember during Covid 19,  she was the most reliable and visible person in  the government.

I’ve been monitoring storm Kristine since last night and every hour on the hour, she was there calling the shots, supervising rescue workers in her province, the Bicol region. She asked for donations for the victims of the typhoon and the people easily responded with several boxes of goods, sacks of rice, blankets  and rescue boats from private entities. Two large trucks have already departed this afternoon for Naga City in Bicol. And she said, this will go on every day as long as help is needed and as long as the private  sector continues helping. So many have volunteered  in the soup kitchen. I wonder, where is the national government? Where is the Dept. of Social Welfare and Development, the PNP who should be the first on the rescue operations?

When you know that your donations are in good hands and when you know that they will  reach the people they are intended for, it is easier to give. Cash donations are being handled by their foundation partners for transparency. They have already raised 4.2M + in just ten hours.

All About Food

What food would you say is your specialty?

Ayayay, Filipino food of course – adobo, sinigang (fish or meat), pancit (miki, guisado,canton, bihon, pancit Malabon) bulanglang (mixed veggies), ginisang monggo. Not to be left behind are lumpiang shanghai (ground pork or ground chicken breast) or veggie spring rolls. I need not elaborate because I cook all these now and then.

Go Away Kristine

I could not sleep last night. I kept praying. The whole archipelago from Northen Luzon down to Mindanao is under  the wrath of typhoon Katrine. This seldom happens that the ring band includes all provinces. Talk about the effect of climate change.

Bicol is heavily affected. They have been having  heavy rains for almost two days straight now. In some areas, the flood has reached their rooftops. They are asking for help in any way one could extend his hands since they need to evacuate those people who are trapped inside their houses. Cars are floating all around. Ex-VP Leni Robredo who hails from Naga City, Bicol is hands on, without sleep the whole night supervising everything. Calamity  was declared last night. I believe she is the president we let go. I have always admired her willingness and desire to help  those in need. She created Angat Buhay after she (supposedly) lost during the 2022 presidential election.

We are still blessed and lucky that despite the weather reports by our Weather Bureau that Metro Manila would have heavy rains, we are right now having not too strong ones. I am hoping and praying for a flood-free Metro Manila and Rizal.

I have always said that I am afraid of storms/floods. I couldn’t forget what happened to us during typhoon Ondoy back in 2009. Metro Manila was inundated  and flood waters reached my neck inside the house. We have to renovate after the flood. That was the time I was still having chemo sessions.

I pity these people taking advantage of the situation by posting flooded areas that happened several days ago just to create content in their vlogs. Pathetic lot. They  were even posting floods that happened in Vietnam and China. Foolish idea. They are deceiving themselves instead of helping with the situation.
