I woke up at 4am, a little late than the usual 3am I’ve been used to. I’ve been outside and swept the front of the house, cigarette butts, candy wrappers, plastic with straw. Although we have a regular maintenance lady on our street, it is quite annoying to see those cigarette butts littering everywhere.
Gardening at 4am? Yes, it was a perfect opportunity to pull off those unwanted and stubborn weeds without the fear of having those motor vehicles and cars at your back. Ours is a very busy street so you just can’t go out and garden, either you garden at an ungodly hour or when the sun is low on the horizon. The heat would be intense by then you it’s out of the question.
For the first time in so many months, it is raining and it is not just the gentle patter you listen to but a heavy downpour. Oh blessed, blessed rain, you are very much welcome in this hot month of May. I could smell the rich earth as it absorbs rain water and I could see the trees smiling with glee. It must be nice to look clean and green again without the thick dust clinging to their leaves. It saves me a day or two of not watering my garden.
And to smell the rich aroma of coffee, what a blessing!
And here it was in the 40s Fahrenheit and snowing where I live yesterday, and some lawns are to wet to mow! I guess this has been a Spring of extreme weather for many people.

I think this is because of climate change. El Nino is about to end but the weather bureau says there is a possibility of La Nina on the second half of 2016. There’s been a change of weather pattern all over the world. Thanks Josh.

I have to say that I agree with you about the climate change bit. The weather’s been too weird for too long in too many places to overlook the fact that things are changing. I think I’ll literally cry if it snows in June though.

If you can experience the heat here during summer, you’ll probably shout, “let it snow, let it snow, let it snow”. It’s boiling at times.

Haha it’d have to be really hot for me to say that! How hot does it get there?

We get as high as 35 °C to 36 °C but today it is a pleasant 32 °C, partly sunny with cool breeze outside.

That’s about the hottest we usually get here, although we have some extreme days that exceed 38° Celsius. They’re quite rare though, and the temperature can fluctuate quite a lot. Just a few days ago we went from 21° Celsius to 3° C the next day!

The whole day yesterday until last night it rained on and off and it somehow diffused the heat. We have extreme weather here in the Philippines, the rainy season sets in around the end of June or the first two weeks of July. I am afraid of typhoons and flood.

You are up a lot earlier than me, Arlene!
As for the rain, we get so much here, I doubt that I would ever bless it. Then again, you and I are a world apart, and we would never experience the heat that you have to endure.
Best wishes, Pete.

The sun is shining now. The streets were cleaned of the grime and dirt the past days. The only thing that mars my day is the new president-elect’s pronouncement that he will allow the CCP NPA (they’re communists) to have four seats in his government. What the…..the guy is …..!!!
