For a week I experienced the laid back life in Gentri. Imagine the gentle touch of the morning –  morning breeze that touches your face, roosters crowing, sunrise at my  back,  the absence of  noise of motorcycles that we encounter in the city. I haven’t seen any motorcycle since I arrived there. Nissa and Obet’s  morning bicycle ride around the place, Kev and Nate’s jogging so late in the afternoon every day.  They don’t regularly eat breakfast but I had to take my meds so Nissa always prepared one every day. It was the clear blue sky that always touched me every day.

Then at night you’ll see the twinkling of Christmas lights and decor in every home. There is always a soft breeze at night, perfect time to stay for a while in their veranda, just savouring the atmosphere.

We attended a kiddie birthday party in Molino on the 27th, had a lovely family reunion with the Isidros on the 30th of December. They came over to have lunch and dinner with us.  It was so nice bonding with Obet’s siblings and their families  and with my balae of course. New Year’s eve was a thrill. Firecrackers were plenty.  It was my first time to light lucis again in years.

These kids are their neighbors. They love playing with their scooters at night.

We had to wake up early on New Year’s day despite the late hours going to bed because we had to attend mass then had lunch at my balae’s place. I simply loved the short stay I had with them…priceless moments that I’ll  always remember.

Nissa laughed at me when I took photos of every meal she prepared while I was there. I told her I wanted to document her prowess in the kitchen…haha!

It may take a year again before we could see each other since they are busy with work and Nate’s classes. We get in touch though through Messenger regularly.
