It’s January 1st, 2026

It is the first month of the year. Despite the fact that we slept late (say 3am this morning), we had to wake up early because we need to attend mass and go to Obet’s old house in Tondo to have another lunch with his mom, sister and the youngest brother with their families who also came from Cavite like us.

At 1:30pm, Nissa tried to book a Grab car for me but it took an hour before she was able to. I arrived here at home around 3:30pm.

Last night, we had fun with the sparklers and lucis that Obet and Nissa bought in Bulacan. Nate started around 9:30pm then we all joined him nearing midnight.  We had a simple Media Noche meal of pancit, spaghetti,  buttered shrimps, lechon liempo, quezo de bola with tsokolate de batirol, a hot chocolate drink after our meals then we had a toast in half shotglasses of one of Obet’s wine collection.

I started updating my prayer journal tonight. Listened to Fr. Pao’s homily and I remembered his words: look up, look within, look forward. Started 2026 with these words in mind.
