I am looking at those photos posted by Obet and Nissa on Facebook and I smiled. So happy that they are enjoying their short stay there with Nate and Kevin.
Sometimes I wonder, if the only words you know in Japanese are konnichiwa which means hello, arigato for thank you and kanpai (pronounced kampai) meaning cheers, how would you converse with those you encounter? Nissa is learning a little Japanese…haha! She took that first trip to the country with her officemates early this year.
I am quite fascinated. My aunt (youngest sister of Dad) has been living there for more than three decades now. She works there, she is actually younger than I am. I love those roses she grows in abundance. I think I told you in one of my posts that during high school we had two Japanese visitors. And the only words I remember were these: Watashi wa, anata o aishiteimasu. I memorized them to heart because it means I love you.
In ten days, they will be celebrating their 14th wedding anniversary, hence this trip. And of course it is for Nate’s 13th birthday too. I admire Nissa for planning their yearly break from work and usually time it with Nate’s off school days. They are always advised to take their vacation leaves every year. But one can convert VLs to cash too. When I was still working at BPI, they used to require receipts for medicine reimbursement until the management decided to pay it in cash every start of the year. We would always look forward to having extra cash after all the expenses during Christmas holidays.
