The theme for World Cancer Day for 2025 is “United by Unique“. It emphasizes a people-centered approach to cancer care, placing individuals and their stories at the heart of the conversation.
World Cancer Day came to fruition on February 4, 2000 at the World Summit Against Cancer for the New Millennium in Paris, France. It is a day to come together to honour and remember everyone affected by cancer and possibly to eradicate it forever.
My older followers know that the main reason why I put up this blog was to share my plight as a cancer patient and survivor. I had stage 3 colon cancer back in 2009, undergone sigmoid surgery July of the same year. My surgical oncologist Dr. Sammy Ang is an experienced, caring and kind doctor. He is one of the most sought-after surgical oncologists in the country. He removed about 9 inches of my colon. I had six cycles of chemotherapy after that. It was almost a whole year of treatment. I was even blessed to meet my previous cardiologist who was so kind and caring too.
During the first three years of blogging, I had so many readers who inquired about my treatment, who my doctor was, how much an operation cost and how long was my chemo. I referred them to my surgical oncologist for the operation and my medical oncologist for chemotherapy. I even met doctors who were interested how I went through, some cancer survivors who told me about their plights too and those who had family members with cancer. I am glad that I was able to help in my little way. Some even came back commenting how their own treatments went and thanked me for the little help I extended them.
There is a saying that goes like this, “life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it”. And the cancer miracle isn’t a cure. It’s prevention.
Prayers for those who are presently undergoing treatment, those who had fought cancer and those who lost their lives. May we all be blessed.❤️❤️❤️🤲🤲🤲🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
