Found an e-book by Khaled Hosseini entitled Sea Prayer. I have read all his previous three books about Afghanistan. Nissa and I even watched the movie adaptation of The Kite Runner which brought us to tears.

Sea Prayer is a departure from those bestselling novels by Khaled Hosseini. A very short work of fiction in 48 pages which was told as a poetic letter from a loving father to his son. Wow, there were beautiful and colorful illustrations in every page done by Dan Williams. It actually combines poetry, water color illustrations and vivid storytelling. It is classified as a graphic novel, a type of text combining words and images. The central themes include loss, love and hope for a better future.  I think though, that it is more of a poem.

According to the book, Sea Prayer ‘was inspired by the story of Alan Kurdi,  the three-year-old Syrian refugee who drowned in the Mediterranean sea trying to reach safety in Europe in September 2015.’

Sea Prayer is my 10th read in Goodreads this year. I have started reading Tisha, The True Story of a Young Teacher in the Alaskan Wilderness by Robert Specht. I am guessing this would be another five-star-read for me.
