I am on my fifth book on 2025 Goodreads Reading Challenge. Currently reading The Woman at the Light by Joanna Brady. Beautiful, well-written and engrossing book.

The British Booksellers by Kristy Cambron was my second read. The book was inspired by real account of the Forgotten Blitz bombings. It portrayed the courage of those whose lives were changed by the war.

I have always loved Mitch Albom. I remember rereading Tuesdays With Morrie several times in the past. The Stranger in the Lifeboat is a novel of hope and faith. A poignant read.

The Turtle House was written by Amanda Churchill. A debut novel, a story of intergenerational friendship, family, coming of age, identity and love. It’s the second book that I read about Japan. The first one was Pachinko by Min Jin Lee which spoke of life’s struggles, ups and downs, survival and challenges.

The book which I started on the last day of December but finished reading on January 2 was Guilt By Association by Susan R. Sloan, my first five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read this year. An engrossing psychological suspense.  I love it.

Love And Misadventure

Reacquainted myself with Lang Leav.  Love And Misadventure, is a Tenth Anniversary Collector’s Edition. I have loved her poems in the past, simple but deep words. I found this in Nissa’s bookshelf. I perused her bookshelf when I was at Gentri with the family last Christmas. I was surprised when I looked at the price because it was costly at P1,000 pesos +.

The beauty of Lang Leav’s poetry is in the simplicity of her words, it may  not appeal to most  but simply put, it provokes  emotions that make you think of life and love.

“One day you meet someone and for some inexplicable reason, you feel more connected to this stranger than anyone else–closer to them than your closest family. Perhaps this person carries within them an angel–one sent to you for some higher purpose; to teach you an important lesson or to keep you safe during a perilous time. What you must do is trust in them–even if they come hand in hand with pain or suffering–the reason for their presence will become clear in due time.”
