I attended the Senior Citizen’s Valentines’ party this afternoon. I  enjoyed the dances held and participated in by some seniors. I removed my hearing aids because the music was too loud in my ears.

They anticipated around 200 attendees but only more than a hundred came. I brought home 3 bottles of mineral water and 1 packed dinner. There was so much food left.

Our barangay  captain and his wife and other barangay councilors  came to join us. They took charge of the parlor games and gave cash gifts. Since the raffle was held at the end of the party, I didn’t wait for it but instead left my raffle stub with one of the officers of the senior citizens.

I won.

She delivered my raffle winnings an hour ago, around two kilos of rice, sardines, tuna sardines and corned beef. Although it was not much, it is still a blessing. Every year during our SC Christmas party, I always win. I remember attending a  Christmas party at the bank where I used to work. I won 1K in the early raffle but when the major prizes were picked, I won the second grand prize – a six cu. ft. refrigerator. I have to return the lower prize to the committee…haha!

This made Valentines’ day something to remember.
