New month, new hope, new beginnings.

Welcome February. I hope it would be another peaceful and quiet month for me.

Are you aware that February 2026 is the only month with 4 days for each day from Sunday to Saturday? The 28 days are divided equally between the seven days of the week. I read somewhere that this usually happens every more than 800 years. Amazing!

I have started another book, a memoir this time by Hannah Kent set in Iceland, entitled Always Home, Always  Homesick. She was an exchange student for a year when she was seventeen. The hardship of settling in a place with language barriers. She was mesmerized though by the ethereal beauty of the place. I am loving it, a short novel all of 272 pages. I am still in the middle of it. The last time I read memoirs was when I encountered the books of Peter Mayle. He wrote them when he transferred to Provence, Italy in Southern France back in the 80s. I love memoirs and historical fiction. Another author who’s  memoirs I like is Frances  Mayes. I read and watched the movie adaptation of her famous book Under The Tuscan Sun, the setting was in Italy. I love reading about these two countries, France and Italy. I could imagine the vineyards and the endless greens all around.
