It was published in 2024 but I only got a copy now. The author Marjan Kamali is new on my list. It is my 6th book for this year’s Goodreads’ reading challenge. I started it last night and could hardly put it down. It highlights Iran’s turbulent history from the 1950 up to the year 2020. I am still around fifty pages of the book, the pacing is beautiful, it is a story of two girls who were together as friends in the early years of their lives. It speaks of Iranian history. It reminds me of Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner which I read years ago and we also watched the movie adaptation when it was shown here.
I gardened for a while at the back of the house this afternoon with our Aspins roaming around. Some of them watched me uproot stubborn grass growing side by side with our papaya trees. There are six in all with three bearing fruits.
