I have just finished my fourth book this year called On A Midnight Clear, a festive  novella collection  inspired by the Nativity story and are filled with faith, promise and romance. It was quite a long time since I read books with romance in them  but what I like about these three novellas are the stories that centered on Christmas. The Christian content is so inspiring that it reminds me of Christmas past. The 19th century  setting made me admire how people got on with horses and buggies, tending a sheep farm and finding love in between. The stories were simple but they are inspiring. I remember the Christmas carols sang during masses at Advent and Christmas season.

I usually read  Christmas stories at the end of the year but the plots lured me to read them first.

I am still looking for books by Rod McKuen. I love the simple way he writes about life, the feelings of going through something inevitable. When I read his works, I also think of my favorite poet Mary Oliver. Her book Devotions is on my nightstand.

My next read is Fredrik Bachman’s My Friends. I have loved this author since A Man Called Ove and Beartown.
