Shopee, an online store which is a strict rival of Lazada probably lost its lead (if it is leading, that is) on the online market when it got Toni Gonzaga as its endorser. It was laying off its employees. Lazada which I patronize was trending yesterday afternoon once Shopee announced its new endorser. So far, many Filipinos unstalled the app for Shopee. The resonating boycott only proved the influence of socia media. Those 31M in SD cards who supposedly voted for Marcos, Jr. are silent.

There is a story behind this, Toni Gonzaga is an influencer and enabler. She campaigned for Marcos before the election. Others probably like her as an actress but some hate her the more while her whole family clings to the Marcoses. As they say in Tagalog kapit-tuko.

I think Shopee’s loss is Lazada’s gain. Since Nissa introduced me to online shopping years ago, I never ventured in Shopee’s app. Stayed loyal to Lazada.

I am loving it. Didn’t I tell you that they have 9-9 sale until tomorrow?

Jovy taught me how to open a Lazada wallet which means that I can pay the items in advance. So it was a direct transfer from my bank account. No splurging, only necessities for the house (cheaper than supermarket prices) and a couple of gifts for Nissa and Nate’s birthdays.

Two items arrived today. I bought a gallon of dishwashing liquid so we won’t have to buy those 1-liter pack every now and then. Bought Nate a Whiz Kid Encyclopedia of Dinosaurs for his birthday in November. Aside from his Lego sets, he has lots of plastic dinosaur toys, he can even memorize their names. I make it a point to buy a book for him every year that he can enjoy reading while growing up.

Next month, on 10-10, there would another sale and I am looking forward to it. It is a big help to choose items you want without even having to mingle with the crowd in malls.

Lazada.

Lazada Philippines is an online shopping site for electronics, fashion, appliances, baby needs, books, groceries and what have you. Even S &R is in Lazada too. Because of this pandemic, almost everyone is trying to avoid going out to shop, online shopping is better. Lazada is joined by several sellers, they have a minimal delivery charge for any item that you buy except cold cuts, meat and poultry which have higher charges because they deliver them on the same day that you ordered.

You can earn points buying at Lazada, for three times, I got three deliveries for free. They will be on sale again this coming September 9 (9-9 sale). Yesterday, I looked at the items that will be on sale come September 9. I m trying to find a gift for Nissa for her birthday this month and gifts for Nate on his 9th birthday in November. I have started listing items for the family to give as gifts come Christmas. You can drop them all at your add to cart then select later which to buy. There is that buy option which you can click.

Early this morning, I received another delivery which I ordered two days ago. I told the messenger, “malapit na September 9″. Really looking forward to it. He answered, “Christmas ma’am, malapit na rin”. We laughed.

Yeah, CHRISTMAS is just around the corner indeed.

Would you believe, I tried ordering  at Lazada four days  ago  so I’ll learn to navigate it on my own. Nissa reminded me to read the reviews, how satisfied the customers are. Bearing that in mind, here we go. I searched for something that I won’t have to shell out a lot with a minimal delivery fee. Take note, I told myself, this is just a trial.

As I previously told you, this is just the second time I used the app and my first time to explore it. Success! The items were delivered yesterday.  Shorts for daily wear, haha!  They have a mid-year sale tomorrow but I am not yet bold enough to put anything in my cart since I am budgeting my cash here. It is just nice browsing over items on sale which are way, way cheaper than those sold in the supermarkets.

My first online purchase aside of course from the bathroom caddy that Nissa ordered for me a week ago 🙂

Josef left me some food budget for the weekend. They are spending four days with Jovy’s grandmother until tonight when Jovy’s work shift ends.  Those who supply food items here in our subdivision already know where to deliver them. You just have to message them early and just wait for the food to be delivered. I ordered six large pieces of boneless daing na bangus (milkfish marinated in peppercorns, vinegar  and garlic), a tray of eggs, a kilo of  tinapa freshly made from Bataan and a kilo of fresh tomatoes. Mom and I are more into eating fish and vegetables when the two are not around.  Simple snacks of palitao, veggie lumpia, maruya and turon won’t be left behind. My, my, but I am getting lazy to prepare meals just for Mom and me.  We still have mini-siopao inside the freezer which I reheat every morning for breakfast. Since it only lasts a week, sometimes it’s mom’s morning snack too 🙂

When you’re confined at home and choose not to go out because of this pandemic, sometimes  all you ever think is what book to read next or what food to eat.

Food for Thought:

Celebrating life. Today is the actual date I had my sigmoid surgery eleven years ago. I am lucky and I am blessed. Thank You Lord.
