I know it is not yet the end of the Christmas season. We have until the Baptism of the Lord which is on January 12 to celebrate it. As I have said before, it is the shortest season in the calendar. I already took down some of our Christmas decorations though, washed the garlands before keeping them again in their individual boxes. I couldn’t reach the cabinet where our decorations are kept. One needs to use a ladder to access it that is why  I am waiting for Josef’s help to keep them all.

I have this small Nativity table decor with winding music. Today is the last time I played it again. That beautiful harp music was truly lovely. It plays three Christmas songs. Why is it that Christmas music always brings a bit of nostalgia?

General cleaning too after the fumes brought in by those firecrackers outside. I threw away a bagful of old receipts and will begin another file in the coming days. There is nothing like keeping things to a minimum, discarding those which one no longer needs.

My cellphone which is just more than two months in my possession cannot send and receive messages for the past week. I was alarmed although I can still use every app installed in it.  Josef removed the Nano SIM card and put it back again. Presto, it was fixed. Maybe it was dislodged a little. I had that old SIM cut to the minimum when I purchased my phone on my birthday.  I was ready to go to Globe Telecom to have it checked  since it is still under warranty.  Talk about being ignorant of simple things like this. Good thing Josef knows how to do it.

I started reading another book by Amy Harmon but I am still busy checking and reading those so many messages  re: New Year greetings. Messenger is so easy to use as long as you have wifi connection. I was able to call some of my friends living abroad via Messenger. That thing we call “one to sawa” (from a few minutes to an hour….haha). It is always nice to get in touch with friends that you haven’t seen for a while. The excitement of exchanging news, updating each other on our lives at the moment…..really priceless.

How was your New Year celebration?

Yes, 2020 is a leap year.

A leap year is a year in which an extra day is added to the Gregorian calendar, which is used by most of the world. While an ordinary year has 365 days, a leap year has 366 days. … A leap year comes once every four years. Because of this, a leap year can always be evenly divided by four.

Today we also celebrate the Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. There is nothing like attending an early morning mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Light with our good friend Fr. Aly Barcinal presiding. And there is nothing like starting the year right with thanksgiving and prayers.

I am going back to sleep. I just want to post my very first blog this year. Last night was like a war zone in our place. I love the pyrotechnics though. Those makers certainly improve their craft every year. When it stays in the air for more than a minute, when you see different colors and designs in the night sky, it is really a lovely sight to behold. Some of my neighbors took videos on their cellphones. Compared to last year (2019), the display was short lived. And the firecrackers I think only took thirty minutes when 12 am was about to strike.

Again, a Blessed and Happy New Year to all my friends here on WordPress.  New hope, new dreams, new beginnings.

Dear Lord, for all that has been, thanks. For all that will be, amen!

It’s the last few hours of 2019  and we will be welcoming another year in our midst. We may look at the fading leaves of 2019 as something we will always remember or something we may want to forget. No matter how it has been for all of us, it has taught us lessons in life. We may choose to ignore them  and start all over again.

I could now hear the occasional boom and bang of firecrackers.  Though there are only allowed firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices, some people are bold enough to use those classified as illegal. Every year, there is an increase of patients being brought to nearby hospitals because of firecracker accidents.  Our dog Noki is scared of fireworks. He cowers in fear when  they light the sky and noise is too loud. Josef gave him a bath last night so he could stay under the dining table  before new year comes. He usually stays at our garage or at the dirty kitchen, a guard dog.  This is Oreo’s second year with us and I am quite surprised that he is not afraid of the noise, he just barks.

All is set for 2020. Forget the New Year’s resolutions. Several years ago, I used to make a list but come February, they are usually ignored. I haven’t made any resolution  the past several years.  All I ask first and foremost is good health for the whole family, peace of mind, enlivened Faith, and being able to face everything that life brings – with courage. Happiness comes naturally when you have all these.

Let’s walk through 2020 with optimism, smiles on our faces  and hope for better and blessed days ahead.  See you all next year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

We had our twice-a-month marketing today. Timely preparation for the coming media noche. Costs of everything has gone up again. While almost every Filipino is struggling with high costs of commodities including basic goods, our rich politicians continue to amass wealth through corruption. Sorry, this is not what I want to blog about.

There is something wonderful about the giving qualities of my favorite vendors/sellers at the wet market. Every Christmas, they would give different gifts. Some gave me sturdy shopping bags, one gave me a recyclable grocery bag with zipper so you can fold into a wallet-sized one when you go out. I also received a hand towel from one of them. They may not be much for some people but it’s the thought that counts, right?

Cost of fruits have gone up again. I just bought two kilos of black seedless grapes and two pieces of honey dew. Come December 31, expect more mark-up on those different round fruits in the market. Filipinos have this tradition of serving twelve kinds of fruits during the new year. It is the only time in the year where you’ll find those fruits which are not necessarily sold during ordinary days.

I just hope 2020 will be a good year for all of us. HAPPY NEW YEAR in advance 🎉🎊💕🌷🍇🍎🍒
