It’s Mama Mary’s Birthday

In the Catholic calendar, the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is always celebrated every September 8. The Blessed Mother occupies a unique place in the history of salvation.

There were years when I blogged about Mama  Mary’s birthday and my stats have gone up by the thousand. I loved  those times that readers appreciated my posts.  As I’ve always said,  as Catholics, we don’t worship Mama Mary but we venerate her. Veneration comes from the Latin word veneratio or dulia, Greek δουλεία, douleia. It is  the act of honoring a saint, a person who has been identified as having a high degree of sanctity or holiness. Since she is the mother of the Kings of kings, she is the saint of saints. We honor her by praying the rosary, observing her feasts in the Catholic calendar, or when we bow our heads while praying the creed.

Thank You MAMA MARY

I hope it is not too late to say “happy birthday  Mama Mary”. 

For those of you who read  my blog regularly, you might have noticed that since 2011, I’ve been getting upward spike every time I blog about Mama Mary’s birthday and the bulk of views comes from my country. I love Mama Mary.  Yes, every September 7 and September 8, I get notifications from  WordPress. Last year was the highest so far with a total of 4,893 in one day alone.

WordPress has sent me notifications  since the other day and again I am amazed by the amount of views I got until this morning. This one is the latest so far with this message:

When Your Stats Go Crazy

It really did for two consecutive days and all because it was Mama Mary’s birthday. For the past five years, I blogged about Mama Mary’s birthday – quotes, prayers and my personal feelings on celebrating such an event as a Catholic. And for the past five years, I’ve noticed the crazy dance on my blog views and stats. The last time it did was about two years ago with a total of 2,889 stats in one day and I was happy but what I saw the past two days made me even happier. And it’s not only because of the additional significant stats, it’s because so many people especially from the Philippines really love to celebrate the event.

I took  screenshots of my total stats. The bar graph for the past two days looked really weird with my average views of 200 really looking like dots compared to these.

The joys of blogging and reaching out to people from all walks of life.

Thank you for all those who viewed and visited my blog, read my posts on Mama Mary for the past two days.  It is simply amazing.

Thank You WordPress

Got this message from WordPress about three hours ago. Three years in a row today, every time I blog about Mama Mary’s birthday, my stats go crazy. Last year, it registered a total page views of 2,724 in one day (my highest stats so far) and most of the visitors clicked my post on Mama Mary’s birthday.The last time I looked about a minute ago, it registered a total of 710 visitors and 1,217 page views. Thank you WordPress. Thank you Mama Mary. What a lovely morning!

More On Mama Mary and Friendship

I received this wonderful text message from Lovell, a close friend from Sto. Domingo Convent. It’s written in Tagalog which I really appreciate . It’s a lovely greeting for Mama Mary’s birthday today:

Salamat sa Diyos sa pagkakaloob kay Maria!  Salamat kay Maria sa pagkakaloob kay Hesus! Maligayang bati sa kaarawan ni Maria! Pueblo amante de Maria!

I love it! and I am just so overwhelmed by the number of views I am getting since last night. In my more than two years of blogging,  today I got the highest number of clicks in one blog so far and the highest  in one day. As of this writing, my bar graph is getting crazy, yesterday, it registered 398 and today it is 1, 280 as of this minute and still counting.  Amazing that almost all my blogs on Mama Mary are on the top-rated list.

We regularly update our AFCC Tambayan page by posting topics which the members could relate to and comment on. One of the questions I posted today was about friendship. What do you think is the most important ingredient of a lasting friendship? How do you keep the friendship alive?  Do you have best friends?  I got lots of comments and a lively discussion, some  even touching on platonic friendship. Who can keep a secret, a boy or a girl? Most of them are of the belief that communication, honesty, trust, love, patience and understanding count for a lasting friendship. Nowadays, friendship is loosely defined as something that is fleeting and temporary. You call someone you’ve just met a friend, but for friendship to be real, it needs  nurturing for it to grow. One needs time for a friendship to bloom. Communication is one thing, I think it is the main ingredient for a true and real friendship. It will die a natural death if  you don’t communicate. Once you find true friends, treasure them because they are more valuable than gold.
