I replanted Sansevieria  a while ago. I wonder why they are also called  Mother-in-Law’s tongue. How have they earned that name?

Dwarf Sansevieria

Put them in full sun at the moment but will use them indoors later. A few years ago, one of my cousins gave me a whole pot of this plant and they are now everywhere in the garden. I love their sturdy leaves, they easy to grow too and need little watering. thew are low maintenance, so to speak.

Some years back, I found this lovely book about gardening. How to maintain a garden, practical techniques for successful growing and so many lovely photos on each page. I just love it. Sometimes, growing perennials is easier than growing annuals.

Good thing I kept this baller which I wore during the 2016 election.  Mar Roxas on the go. Will be campaigning for him online. He is number one on my list of senators for the coming 2019 election.

I was supposed to garden for a while but the sudden drizzle put a stop to it.  Now the sun is up and it’s hot outside.

Starting the month right with a few posts…hehe. Anyway, yesterday Nissa sent me this latest photo of Nate wearing a Katipunan attire.  Maybe they had a program in school commemorating those earlier historical events.

Haven’t seen Nate for more than a month now since he has classes during  Saturdays to make up for those past days when there were no classes because of typhoons. Though we talk over the phone, it is always nice to see them personally. There is nothing like playing together, laughing out loud, sharing a meal and lots of stories.

I miss you baby. Stay well and good.

A friend and a fellow blogger wrote about learning to wait. I am afraid I am one of those seemingly impatient persons when it comes to waiting.  Be it in a traffic (I guess this is inevitable),  drugstores, mall payment counters, doctors’ offices and the like.

It is a good thing, there are  now “senior citizens” lane  when paying for one’s purchases. It rather cuts the time waiting  for a few minutes.  I usually buy my maintenance medicines at Mercury Drug Store. There is this branch close to our place  that serves their clients oh so slow.  There are more senior citizen buyers than  regular customers.  Now, I remember, the  municipal hospital is also close by so the customers are always in line.

When I left the bank where I used to work back in the year 2000, I enrolled all our utilities for online payments.  Paying online is easier than waiting for your number to be serviced by a bank teller. As long as you have a wi-fi and your app is updated, you’re good to go.  Online transactions too  are now  in place for those merchants selling clothes, gadgets, even grocery items. Most of them deliver the items free (I guess the delivery charge is  already included in the cost). Some are paid in cash as soon as you get the items. Food  merchants  have delivery charges when you order online but you’d be assured that the items you ordered would be delivered in  less than 30 minutes. If you are quite lazy to go out because of the traffic and  and the not so friendly smog  in your area, it is still the best option. You just have to wait for a while.

The internet has surely gone a long way to help us in our daily lives.  You don’t have to buy a newspaper every day to get updated with  news.  Just read online and that’s it.  For those trolls online, it is also the easiest access to publish fake news. So beware.

You and I will grow old one day, that’s a fact of life.

I often hear mom say that she is becoming forgetful. Sometimes, she always forgets where she put down her eyeglasses. Sometimes, she goes to the bedroom and simply forgets why. At her age (she is now 88), I am so happy that she is still with us. Never mind that most of time, she gets irritable and moody. They say that when you reach the ripe old  age of 80, everything is a bonus. Agree?

It happens to me too, sometimes when I have something in mind to do or get at the bedroom, I often forget what it is when I reach there. I have to go back again and think. I dread that time when I could not exactly remember things or people around.

Are you afraid to grow old? Of course each one of us has that hidden fear of reaching those years. But  we are so lucky and blessed that we were given these chances to enjoy life at the moment. We are so blessed that we are  still healthy despite the occasional aches and pains that accompany getting a little older.  We are so blessed that we still enjoy what life deals us despite those somewhat gargantuan problems that arise at times.  No one can escape vicissitudes in life. What matters is our attitude towards everything.  I believe that we become stronger for every curve ball that we experience. We learn and we remember.  Positive attitude counts.

Yes, we also grow a little wiser as we grow older.  Wisdom comes with age so research say.  We  are more decisive in doing things than when we were younger.  We are more focused on  not just the way something is done but how it would impact on our lives.  As we grow older, we  remember  with childlike wonder how we coped before today. We remember the good times  and smile at the though of those earlier years. Treasure that wisdom, treasure those moments you laughed and smiled and cried  with joy in your hearts. Treasure the days ahead, they will give us more lessons where we could learn more.  Enjoy the passing days, they are precious.

Ah, the joys and perks of being a senior citizen.

I turned sixty more than a month ago, finally having that much-awaited SC card.  There are so many perks attached to being a senior in our country. You have the cinemas for free at certain days of the week or having discounts on other days. I am not much of a cinema fan though so I have not availed yet of free movies and such. Maybe, when I am not that busy anymore and could find time to see a movie, I will.  What I did manage to make use of that card  in a big restaurant was when Nissa, Josef and I dined at Vikings Marikina  on my birthday. And it’s not because I am a senior but they give free lunch or dinner to birthday celebrators for the month.  I enjoy the perks of a 20% discount though  at Jollibee and McDonald’s.  Almost every Sunday we attend mass early and have our breakfast at Jollibee. I love their longganisa with poached egg and a cup of hot chocolate or coffee. They also give a  free copy of Philippine Star (one of our national dailies).  That at least makes me enjoy dining out at fast food restaurants. Jollibee is a home-grown food chain  which has also become famous in other countries. Some grocery items also have discounts depending on what you will buy and if it is included in their list.  Hotels and travels have 20% discounts too.

It’s taking a long time for my Social Security pension to be credited to my account. SSS said it usually takes two months to process such.  I wonder what’s taking them that long. Hopefully, by January I’ll be able to enjoy it.

Talk about the joys of blogging. Imagine a grandma blogging still and enjoying reading other blog posts. Sometimes, I just could not keep up with those wonderful posts I see here on WordPress. And I noticed too that most bloggers I follow are in their senior years like me.  Well, base on experience,  they have more things to share  and more wonderful happenings in their lives. We talk about our kids, how successful they have become. We talk about our grandkids,  how we enjoy their company and their presence in our lives. We talk about several things like photography, gardening, trying new recipes, visiting places and our daily struggles in life. We learn, oh how we learn from other bloggers.

I follow a certain blogger here Ana Linden. She’s giving away free copies of her e-books  until December 31st I think. I just downloaded them  They have 5 stars at Goodreads.

Happy Sunday to all.
