For the past several days, I’ve been watching dog stories on YouTube. I am fascinated watching them play, it’s sad though that there so many mistreated, abandoned and left on their own. There were those whose furs have grown and they have become unrecognizable. There are many people too who love our furry friends and they bring them to the vets then adopt them later. Some are just puppies.

From sketches in stillness.

I am reminded of this photo by our eight existing doggies. Oreo, our Shih Poo is as playful as ever, our Shih Tzu Cookie is so “malambing”.

Our four other dogs have learned to adjust with just the two puppies left behind. They stay in the garage or dirty kitchen. They eat twice a day. They are our doorbell when there is someone at the gate. We named our two puppies Sadie and Max.

Max loves belly rub. Everytime he sees me, he would lie down and wait. Sometimes, Sadie would come along and lick my fingers when she sees me petting the former. She is my constant companion in the garden.

Indeed, “how beautiful it is to find someone who asks for nothing but your company”.

I was just checking the stock market two weeks ago then I saw that Union Bank declared stock dividend last month. I wrote to their Stock Transfer why I didn’t receive my certificate and they replied that it was still with them. The address was incomplete so the courier brought it back to their office. Got it the other day and I received almost 400 shares. Wow! All the stocks that I invested to before I left the bank are long-term. By March cash dividends will be declared. Blessings🙏🙏🙏.

I went to Bank of PI yesterday to deposit the fractional share of UB then I dropped by our “suki” vendors at the market after more than two years of not seeing each other. One of them told me I am leaner now. “Palakpak naman tenga ko”. I lost a little weight during this pandemic.

Have I mentioned before that we now have nine new puppies from the three doggies that Jovy and Josef adopted from the pound? They were sired by Noki. We are only retaining two and the rest were promised to Jovy’s officemates. All of them eat more than we do. The garden is their playground but I am getting tired of cleaning their poop every morning. Some puppies destroyed some of my small plants planted on the ground.

I had a nice surprise this morning. My Star Jasmine had just bloomed bearing tiny flowers. The scent is like a Gardenia bloom. And my guava tree have so many fruits. Blessed!

Good morning🎍🌏🦩🌺

Yesterday, we got worried about Cookie. Her bowel movement was frequent so at around 8:30 pm last night, Josef and Jovy had to bring her to the vet. She has Parvo, a contagious virus affecting dogs. She was given several medications and seven days injections which cost sky-high. She probably got it when they usually go out for a walk inside our village.

Oreo stayed with me last night and he’s now asleep at the foot of the bed. When Jovy and Josef came home from the vet clinic today, they sanitized everything inside the house. Jovy did the fogging and floor cleaning while Josef disinfected the garden. After a while, a veterinarian and his two companions arrived. Noki has three shots, anti-rabies (which we do every year) immunity and deworming. Nika and Niki had immunity, deworming and anti-rabies vaccine too. They could not catch Lassie, the elusive one so they were not able to vaccinate her. Oreo had his 8 in one vaccine months ago while Cookie had her 5 in one at the same time. I guess Parvo vaccine is not included in the latter.

As I have said before, our fur babies are family members so if one of them gets sick, we worry. I hope Cookie will get well soon. I asked the vet why some dogs seem to be always afraid of human and he said, they might have been maltreated in the early years of their lives.

Nissa, Nate and I had an early video chat this morning. It is so nice to see them again.

Nate was cuddling a dog, it was quite big. I was surprised that he is no longer afraid of dogs. He used to be with Oreo, maybe because Oreo was so playful when he was a puppy. So that big dog is a three-month old pure breed Labrador which they adopted just yesterday from Obet’s sister. How nice to see them all together.

Finally, I was able to pet Nika, our other dog from the pound. I am afraid of the other one because he is not so friendly. Although he visits the garage now and then, he turns back to the garden when he sees me. He destroyed three pots of my Amazon lily.

My little Jennifer flower

I ordered a pack of rice hull the other day. It was only P30 pesos but the plant vendor had no change. I was forced to buy another pot. This plant is called Jennifer (Jenny Creeper). First to have one like this. I’d like to buy more once they have re-stocked their supplies. It has tiny pink flowers that resemble a daisy.

I have so many plants to repot but I don’t want them to be exposed to too much water, maybe I’ll do it after the rainy season.
