For the past two days, I was trying to lose myself from all these “ugly” events happening in our country. Sometimes though, because you have a sense of patriotism and that nationalistic attitude towards your beloved country, you just can’t help but react.

This actually happened more than a week ago when 22 Filipino fishermen at the Red Bank was rammed by a chinese vessel. It took a week for Duterte to react by saying it was an  “an ordinary maritime incident”, instead of investigating what happened and protecting the rights of the 22 fishermen.  He would not dare punish china for intentionally sinking that fishing boat. Now it can be told, he loves china more than he loves his country and his countrymen who he promised to serve.

Let me quote an  opinion of a netizen Allan Bernabe how these people from the government  coerced the fishermen to doubt themselves and eventually retract their own statements:

It’s so tragic that Duterte had to parade excessive force, to cower Insigne into submission. The poor fisherman-captain was taken down by shock and awe.

Piñol was sent to boat owner’s home, in the guise of bringing relief goods. But the real purpose was to force Insigne and his companions to change their story and apologize to Duterte.

When Piñol met Insigne, there’s no doubt that Insigne showed defiance.

But Piñol was ready. Duterte had anticipate Insigne will stand for principle. So he had assigned a battalion of fully armed policemen to go with Piñol, to do nothing else but scare Insigne. Once Insigne resisted, Piñol signalled the troops to surround the house in full battle gear, threatening arrest of the fisherboat captain.

Insigne, who had already received arrest “feelers” prior, must have broken down in fear.

After losing his command of the rammed boat, losing his right to fish in Philippine territories, losing his dignity to Duterte’s lies and fierce fanatics trolling, and almost losing his life to Chinese militia, he cannot afford to lose his freedom.

Not knowing the threat of arrest was only a Duterte’s bluff, Insigne surrendered to Duterte’s propaganda.

The most powerful tyrant of the country crushing the heart and soul of the poor beaten victims of China’s aggression, using the full might of a country’s resources.

Such unspeakable cruelty only a Duterte mind can produce.

Injustice can’t even begin to describe this.

Pinol is the present Agriculture Secretary sent by duterte. He conducted a closed-door meeting with the seafarers. When it was done, they were singing a different tune. You can see from their faces how conflicted they were of what happened, even having their photos taken with that hateful  fist sign like a Nazi salute.

First Lorenzana changed his tune, then here comes the captain of the Philippine vessel who says he is no longer sure whether it was a chinese ship who rammed them or not. What’s happening Philippines? Ganito na lang ba kababa ang tingin nila sa atin?Yung iba diyan, ang daling bumaliktad, may nabibili, may nasusuhulan, may madaling himukin. Yung iba tinatakot at binabantaan ang buhay nila. Which is which people? I am confused  . Or maybe to save your life and the lives of your family, you just follow blindfolded. We can’t really blame those poor fishermen.

(Lorenzana is the present Secretary of  National Defense).

Someone from social media asked “Have you experienced being robbed?  You just did, if you  reacted to what he did in Seoul”. That was really written in Tagalog and it had more impact than translating it here in English.

I  am referring to that kiss done by Duterte to one of the Filipina OFWs in Korea a few days ago. Can you imagine a man of his stature doing that in public with a married woman at that? And the crowd cheered. Wow! What happened to our Filipino values? Kissing someone else spouse’s on the lips in public on national television is okay?  This is clearly not acceptable. His spokesman Roque said that it is playful act accepted in Filipino culture. I am a Filipino and I  DO NOT agree.  Kabastusan ginawa niya. That is not a typical act of a supposedly popular and a respected president.  He tried to mask his insecurities with the power of the presidential office. This is the only time I’ve seen one, the way he acts in public seems to be lacking in everything.  To earn respect, you should be respectful too no matter who is in front of you. And that girl who seemed to enjoy that show of vulgarity said there was no malice  in it and she even defended the act considering she is a married woman. Duterte hates women. We always seem to be the target of his ire. Is it because those who are criticizing him are braver than he is? He clearly is a mysogynist.

Going back to being robbed, since  social media was focused on it, the government is clearly diverting the people’s  attention. Every day, the bad news of corrupt people in his government is so rampant. Some media people have kept mum  and tight-lipped on what is happening around. Those who were so blatant in criticizing Ex-Pres. PNoy before are now so quiet you would think their lips are sealed. Then those DDS (the loyal Duterte followers) don’t stop proliferating fake news. I’d like to believe now that he won the presidential race because of those trolls.

Imagine some of those he appointed in his government who were into corruption. Did they resign? Were they guilty of it? They didn’t, they were just transferred to another agency of the government.

He is even worse than Marcos. Such disgusting acts, such show of vulgarity , you don’t deserve to be there Mr. Duterte.

It’s been a while.

Barangay elections (the lowest level in the govt.) has just been held the other day. It is quite disappointing that some candidates still adhere to vote-buying. My gosh, where will your P500 pesos go after you have elected a corrupt and crooked official of the land?  Imagine, even in the lowly rural areas, people look up to those candidates with empty promises.

A few days ago, our chief justice Sereno was ousted by her own colleagues in the Supreme Court. A sad day for the land. Is justice dead? Now that the integrity of the highest court of the land  is compromised, can we expect anything good from them? They voted 8-6 in favor of her ouster. And those belonging to the eight are the same accusers and judges. How’s that again? I am not a lawyer but I understand the Constitution said, only the Senate could remove a sitting chief justice via impeachment but those supposedly esteemed judges went ahead and voted for the quo warranto petition.”Quo warranto is a special form of legal action used to resolve a dispute over whether a specific person has the legal right to hold the public office that he or she occupies”Quo warranto is only applicable within a year after the chief justice was appointed but Sereno has been on the job for almost six years and it is only now that they thought of it? They had no complaints when she was appointed. And take note, the daughter of one of those eight justices is now appointed in a government position. Favors rendered  is now  paid for. How sad 😦 Oh yes, Duterte openly declared that Sereno is his enemy. Who’s next?  The legitimate vice-president?  I think they would remove all those who are critical and opposed to this administration. Bongbong Marcos who is the loser in the last election wants to replace VP Leni Robredo and eventually be the next president when Duterte hands over the reigns to him. The Marcoses’ money (ill-gotten wealth) is working to their advantage.

When you think of what is happening here, it seems like a hopeless case. Why is it that the president says he will eradicate corruption and yet most of those he appoints are corrupt? Every day, you would see news which is unpalatable.  He even says that China will defend him and won’t let him be removed from office. What has China got to do with our internal affairs. He embraces them with open arms but is hostile to those countries willing to help?
