Been looking at my dashboard this morning. I hope WordPress would bring back that assessment they usually do at the end of the year telling you how you fared with your blog.

It is nice to know that the most read blog with all time views was my post on Mama Mary  I posted it back in September 2011 and it garnered total views of 23,824. Next in line is my blog about our road trip at Regina RICA which we did at the start of the year 2012.  It has  total views of 10,122. Coming in third is my post about one of our local author’s books The Early Bird Catches The Worm But The Second Mouse Gets The Cheese. It has 8,156 views. The author Francis J. Kong is a very gifted and popular motivational speaker here in our country.  I was surprised at the response I got from that post and most of those who commented were just passersby so to speak. Back in  May 2009, I just started blogging here. These were followed by my earlier posts when  I was hospitalized and underwent chemotherapy ten years ago. My total stats at the moment reached 597,267. Maybe by the end of  December, it’ll reach 600,000 views….wishing.

You know why page views are important too? It’s because they tell you whether your blog content is good or not. They may not always make comments or click like but you know they have visited and read your posts. I check my stats occasionally and I am glad I had reached this number.

Sometimes, I wanted to change the look of my blog by changing themes but I always end up going back to this reliable one for me, the Misty Look.

There are more free themes going up the site but somehow when you feel just a little comfortable with your chosen one, you are reluctant to try something else.

I was looking at the options for text colors for my Heartland series earlier but I could not find it. I have to make a little research  to do it. It used to be there all the while and all you have to do is to highlight the words you want to change into another text color and presto, you’re done.  It’s gone.

According to the article I read “You can easily solve this issue by clicking on the “Toolbar Toggle” button, which is the second icon from the right under the “Add Media” and “Add Contact Form” buttons.”

“Once you’ve clicked on that button, you’ll see an icon with an underlined “A” and a down arrow fourth from the left. If you hover your mouse over it, “text color” will pop up.”

Got it. I was just wondering why it suddenly disappeared from the options above unless you click that toggle button.  Oh, they keep changing the rules and if you are not aware of it, you’ll be lost.

Some bloggers don’t mind if they have a high stats or not, I do. It is a measure and a barometer wherein you would know whether people are reading your blog posts or not. Some don’t have WordPress  account but they read and visit. Occasionally, you get comments from people you hardly see here. Presently, I have a total of  592,509 stats and I hope, it’ll reach 600,000 by year end.  It doesn’t matter much if I have thousands of followers or not, most of them don’t engage anyway. 4,000 followers are good enough for me.

How’s your blogging journey?

I am sure some of us regularly check our dashboards for those unwanted spam comments that appear every now and then, checking if we have missed acknowledging comments on our posts, sometimes looking at where our viewers are coming from or maybe checking our stats for the day.

I am particularly concerned about the storage space since I am using a free format for my blog. For bloggers like us who don’t want to convert our blogs to premium accounts, we are only allowed 3,072 megabytes in one single blog. I’ve used up 75% of it as of the moment. Back when I started blogging ten years ago, I didn’t know much about how photos would eat up a lot of space allowed specially when you are posting hi-resolution shots like I did before.  My free space rapidly filled up. Three or two years ago, I finally learned that I can reduce my photos to sizable ones in my library before adding them to my posts. I should have learned that long ago when I was still participating in the daily WordPress Photography Challenge in which you will interpret a word through your photographs.  That was when I joined a more difficult challenge of writing and posting everyday back in 2011.

Yesterday, I finally reached my 2,700th post for this blog alone and I think that’s a lot of writing. That’s averaging 300 to 500 words per post.  Add that to my four other somewhat inactive blogs and you’ll get the figure.  There was a time I when I felt the day was not complete when I can’t blog. There was also a few months when WordPress introduced commenting on each post writing such feedbacks like wonderful, amazing, beautiful etc. I miss those yearly reviews they did before on how your blog fared throughout the year. They even introduced words everyday that you can use to write about something related to it. Though I still visit my dashboard regularly, I no longer read WordPress events and news.

I am glad of my ever looming stats. It has greatly increased through the years. Right now, I have about 586,697 total. My followers haven’t reached 4,000 yet but I am nearing there. Most of them don’t engage anyway except for a few friends who regularly visit and make comments. Some follow through e-mails only and around 90 from Twitter. I seldom link my posts at Facebook except when the topic is about politics.

I am still enamored with blogging. It’s one activity that I enjoy doing though at times I seem to lose my muse.  It is a journey that I want to continue. Would love to explore and discover more blogs in the future.

What about you? How’s you blogging journey?

For the past six years or so, I’ve been monitoring my stats, at least every three years. Back in 2013, I only had a total of 205,005. Then in 2016, it almost doubled to 410,003. It has somehow reduced though for the past three years, it just registered a total of 579,451.

I understand the somehow downward trend, I haven’t been that active and some of the contents are not that good. Or maybe, people got tired of visiting and reading my posts. Blogging for ten years, I have almost covered all subjects worth-blogging at least for me – my family, the books I read, book reviews, daily happenings in my life, friends, fellow bloggers, being a gardener, being a grandma to Nate, my health, occasional road trips, my thoughts on various subjects that I can think of.

I do write short, short poems sometime when I am in the mood. What I have neglected is to update my photography blog. I haven’t bought a camera yet, so lazy to find a new one. One of my cellphones though which Nissa gave me  packs a 16-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a pixel size of 1.12-micron. Good enough for those spur of the moment shots that I love to do. It’s easier to take photos when you are just holding a small gadget. You won’t need to adjust anything, just point and shoot.

I don’t mind much about followers, most of them just follow but do not engage. Many are asking to follow them back even if they just click one post in your blog. I love my regular commenters and likers though. When I see them here, it feels like I am sharing something worthwhile.

Happy Anniversary with WordPress.com!
You registered on WordPress.com 11 years ago.
Thanks for flying with us. Keep up the good blogging.

I would say it has been a long journey.  Yes, I opened an account here 11 years ago with a lone entry of a simple poem but I only got the courage to update it  more than a year later. I do have five blogs here but Dreams and Escapes gets the biggest share of it all.  This is my 2,560th post in this blog and so far, I have around 570,047 stats total for Dreams and Escapes. In terms of followers, this lately registered 3,713 including those who subscribe via e-mails.

It’s been a long journey of meeting people from all walks of life, becoming friends with them, enjoying those lovely comments and exchanges, discovering other blogs that  one enjoys reading. And it’s all about sharing all these –  life, daily experiences, books, family, thoughts and ramblings and some simple poems in between.

It’s been a long journey of sometimes deep thoughts that come and go. Some of my followers have been with me since I started blogging and I deeply appreciate it. Some are just new to my blog but they are also active in commenting and sharing their thoughts too.

And I love how a friend views blogging:  It has become a way of life 🙂

Oh No!

The moment when you accidentally delete a whole paragraph of a blog because you were busy doing something else on the net….so sad, I could cry! I can’t recapture every word, they’re not exactly how I wrote them a few minutes ago  😦

I used to blog about blogs and the life of a blogger, for  sometime now though, I haven’t written a single post.

Been blogging  for  about nine years now. I must admit, it is a long journey. A journey of faith, hope, inspiration, finding friendship, sharing and visiting places  I’ve never been. It is nice to see those places that you just read in books. It’s nice to see those wonderful photos shared by online friends from other parts of the world.  Who would have thought  that blogging has gone this far?

When I started here, there were no like buttons yet but comments were open. WordPress used to have that yearly review of our blogs but for some reasons it was gone two years ago. What a pity, I loved it.  Then there was a time when they would add some inspiring words once you have  written another post like awesome, great, inspiring and the like. I miss that too.

I still use the old platform when writing a post and since  I am on a free theme, I now reduce the size of the photos I upload before posting.  I  used to participate in the photo challenges of the site where they give you a word and you have to supply your own interpretations in photos. Those posts ate up lots of my free space that is why I am  quite conscious now to post photos.

I reached another milestone, I guess. Finally I crossed the line on having around 550, 000 stats on my blog. This is for Dreams and Escapes alone. My other four blogs are not regularly updated.  At the moment,   I have a total of  550,057. It is great to know that people from all walks of life still visit and read my posts and some leave comments  on them.  I thank all of you for following my blog.
