“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.”  – Ansel Adams

Ansel Adams couldn’t have said it any better than this. And I love quoting him when it comes to creating an image out of  something  which others see as very ordinary but in a photographer’s eye, he sees the color and the light. He sees things and imagine them forever captured  in a photograph. But Adams insists that “you don’t take a photograph, you make it”.

Sometimes I laugh at myself with that silly smile pasted on my face  every time I see a potential subject that I could take a shot of. Make that anything  from  our small garden to other finds that catch my eye. I like macro though –  like  those colorful and gentle flowers begging to be photographed. I even had this ambitious desire  to compile all the photos I took of the growing flowers in our garden and compare them through the years. Every year there is a different bloom to document. Except for my annual plants, they make gardening a joy.  At times, it’s all about timing and the thought that comes with it.

Son and I went to an early morning jaunt at the wet market today and the first thing I saw was a cart full of  siling labuyo. Yes, siling labuyo is that same type of pepper called  cayenne.  “I wish I brought my camera“, I whispered and my son  just  looked at me with that knowing smile that says I’m crazy. I loved the color spread in front of me so I bought  a ten peso worth of siling labuyo so I could photograph it at home before using some of it for cooking.

Obsessed?  Hmm….maybe!
