When Nate was born, I started a separate blog to document his growing-up years. I haven’t religiouly updated it since the family lives far from us. I wrote about those events that highlighted his achievements, yes, he is an academic achiever, the days when he experienced those lovely episodes in his life – his first plane ride going south, his first time going abroad to Singapore and Legoland in Malaysia when he was seven, those school activities that he was awarded with medals and Certificates of Merit and many such events that made me so proud of him.

Tomorrow, he is turning 10. I wrote this letter on his first birthday. How lovely to see that he is growing up a good, loving, lovable and smart boy.

A LETTER TO MY DARLING NATE ON HIS FIRST BIRTHDAY

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY darling baby Nate. Yeay, and you are counting  How time flies, now you can walk on your own even if they’re just baby steps. It’s  time to see the world from a higher place and discover many, many things dear to your heart.

I can’t believe it, was it only a year ago when your Dad and I patiently waited for you to see the world and hear your first cry? Was it only a year ago when your mom excitedly showed us your pictures while she was in the delivery room  even if she was groggy from anesthesia? And I promised myself I would write about your growing up years. You’re one year old now and we’ll have more days, months and years to discover the world through your eyes. And may you grow to be  strong, smart, healthy  and loving and  may you continue to possess that innocence so endearing to see in a lovable child that you are. And I wish you all the precious things that a loving Nonna could wish for.

I love you baby, you are God’s greatest gift to us. We are indeed blessed having you in our lives. Again, happy birthday❤️🥰❤️

I thought I posted the solo photo of Nate here before his First Communion last Friday. I already updated my other blog just for him and posted some pictures that Nissa took of the event. For a nine-year old, he is getting so tall. Obet and Nate’s grandpa and his uncles are all tall. Good thing he got the genes….😘😉🙂

He was the reader of the mass.

Time flies!

Hello friends, I’m back after more than a week.

To tell you the truth, I really miss blogging but can’t think of a good content I could share with you. I am more focused on the online campaign for presidential aspirants. The Leni/Kiko tandem are doing well in all provinces that they visit -10,000, 20,000, 40,000, 45,000 and an astounding 86,000 in one venue two nights ago. Truly amazing. People seems to be so inspired. Some local officials in some provinces even tried to block their way but resourceful and enthusiastic “kakampinks” shared a ride, people walked to the venues. Even VP LENI hitched on a motorcycle to reach one of the venues because the road was blocked by a seating politician who belongs to the opposite political party. They are even red-tagging her and making videos which are all lies to destroy her.

We don’t want another Marcos, someone who is a college dropout and hadn’t done anything even to his constituents when he was governor there years ago.

They are using their ill-gotten wealth to pay people to join their sorties. Really, what a shame!

The pink revolution has become a movement and if our Commission on Election would not cheat, then it is a sure win for VP LENI. What is frightening is that all commissioners were appointed by Duterte and even the supplier of election materials is one of his Chinese friends. The Filipinos should be vigilant come May 9. We don’t want another glitch like what happened last 2019.

Nate and I had a voice chat early this morning. Nice to hear his voice again even if it was just a simple hi and hello. He is managing quite well with his online class even without the supervision of Nissa and Obet who are back to the office. He is in grade 111 now. Another quarter and the school year ends. Sharing with you his grades for the last three quarters.

Blogged this before at Our Precious Bundle of Joy. Truly happy to see this.

I was reading some notes and tributes by a friend whose friend died a week ago. Gosh, truly touching, I shed a tear. Life is unpredictable but no matter what, we should always be positive and not lose that faith.

Will you again include Alden in your prayers? Thanks a million🙂💐🍀🎉🎈🎊

Nate said he was bored after our stay at the garden. I told him I’ll read the story of Owen and Mzee, a baby hippo and a 130-year old turtle. It ‘s a true story compiled in a book with lots of photos. He likes it because he has the same name as the baby hippo. He was christened Nathaniel Owen. It’s one of the Christmas gifts I gave him.

When we were done reading, I gave my notebook and a ballpen and he started drawing. I rather like the dotted greeting of Merry Christmas. Boy, he can draw, I took a photo…of course.

We had a great time celebrating together. Nissa, Obet and Nate came over to spend lunch with us. It was a simple but lovely celebration. I had a lovely time playing with Nate at the garden. Posted some shots of him at my other blog Precious Bundle of Joy. Sorry, could not post the link except the title, seems not to work on a tab.

Our group shot with 92-year old mom.
Nate always has that lovely smile.

Our two fur babies Oreo and Cookie with Josef and Jovy.
The two of us, look at my white hair….haha!
With Nissa and Nate.
Our lunch spread.

New Year’s Eve

Nissa took so many shots. These are just some of our New Year photos.

A blessed 2022 to all.

A Paper Laptop?

I was impressed with this one, a video of Nate making a paper laptop. They have lots of projects in school including this one. You can open it in your video player. I am using a Samsung internet. Just one click to see it.

Quite busy. I haven’t written a blog for a week now…I have lots to share.

Obet and Nate fondly call each other Bro. I always smile every time I hear them say Bro to each other. For so many years now, I have forgotten how it is to have a kid at home. It makes me remember those days with Nissa and Josef when they were growing up – the stories about school, what they did for the day, the daily notes/letters posted at our bedroom door when I got home from work.

Reliving those priceless moments now – with Nate. This morning, he made a three-slice sandwich with our malunggay loaf bread putting luncheon meat, fried egg and Cheez Whiz on each layer. With a glass of milk, he said it was a yummy breakfast.

Two days ago, I cooked kangkong in Oyster sauce, Nate liked it preferring it over the beef tapa we had for dinner. The simple joys of a child and the enormous happiness of
Nonna with Nate around🥰❤🏃‍♂️

Yesterday,Nate was having a lesson in Music online. Obet was besides him. The latter noticed that Nate’s eyes were red but when it was his turn to sing, he composed himself and smiled at his teacher. Sa Ugoy ng Duyan is a story of a child reminiscing her/his days with her/his mom. It simply means “at the swing of the hammock”. When the song was about to end, Nate’s voice cracked.

He excused himself and told the teacher that he was going to the comfort room, but he went to their room instead and locked the door. A few minutes later, Obet knocked and he saw several tissues besides Nate.

“I poked my eyes Daddy”, he said. Obet knew he was crying. He didn’t say a word and gathered Nate in his arms.

While Nissa was relating the story, I found myself teary-eyed. Nate misses his mommy.

Obet told Nissa that at his age, Nate is strong just like her. I wish I were there with Nate so I could embrace him.

And if I may say, for the first time yesterday, he didn’t request for a video chat with me. He just told me, “Mom is sick”.

Sometimes you won’t really know what comes out of his mouth but it is his way of showing love and appreciation to Nissa🌻🌺🌸

Nate: Mom, I don’t know how to describe you. You’re the perfect amount of fat and and the perfect amount of thin. So I’m just gonna call you “fath”…

I just laughed at this. “Fath”indeed….😉😄🙂
