It’s almost five days when I last posted an entry here. Come to think of it, I got so lazy the following day after my visit to my new doctor/endocrinologist. Imagine waiting for almost five hours since I left the house. Her schedule says she has clinic hours from 8am to 12am. She arrived at 10am and it was just a ten-minute consultation. I showed the results of my lab tests and she explained everything to me. Her words were: medyo okay pero pababain meaning that at my age, my FBS seemed okay but it needs a little more lowering down to a level more comfortable. She has requested more tests in three months. Yes, I will have my next lab tests before the end of June, eight in all- FBS, HBA1c, Crea, CBC, NA, K, ICa and PPBS. I don’t understand them all so I have to make an online research. She is more thorough than my previous doctor. My main problem is, my medical insurance will expire on June 30 so I will have to shell out cash for further check-up and lab tests. Life nowadays is going back and forth to the doctor but at least the interval is getting longer.
I haven’t visited WordPress for quite a while, I am not even updated with blog posts from my friends here. Presently reading a series of Julie Garwood books about highland life. They are stand-alone stories about those lairds and their clans. I have always been fond of historical novels. I remember I almost completed reading Diana Gabaldon’s works years ago. I can imagine those horse-drawn carriages and those people who used herbs to cure ailments. The vista of clear and green fields that run from end to end…precious.
Checked my dasboard, short of 20 more followers to reach 5,000 and my stats showed a total of 691, 074. Not bad at all.
How are you finding the Jetpack switch?
You certainly have written a lot!
Jetpack on my phone is working well. How is it for you?

Most sought-after doctors in the country usually arrive 2 hours or more late than their clinic start of consultation time. Sick people have to be very patient as well. My Oncologist tops the list. She’s not only late but there are too many patients waiting, and she stops and attends to phone calls and checks on the results of her Study. I have experienced waiting for more than 5 hours during my check-ups. How I hate check-ups!

You’re right and I hate hospitals too. I wonder why in all mg check-ups in different hospitals since I was pregnant with Nissa, I haven’t experienced finding one who was on time in their supposed scheds. Annoying talaga di ba?

A little laggy, but alright altogether. I am unfamiliar with ICa and PPBS, but then again some tests are called differently here (e.g. CBC there is FBC here, etc). I would like to find out too!
I had HBA1c or glycosylated haemoglobin, this shows how well controlled your blood sugar is in 3 months (that’s why she asked you to come back in 3 months). This is because your red blood cell lives for about that long. 👍

ICa needs longer explanation…hehe! PPBS is taking your blood sugar two hours after your last meal. My HBA1c is a little higher by more than one point from normal values when I had my lab test a week ago. Thanks for the info, it helps❤

So what would it mean if it turns out to be not in the normal range? First time I’ll be having this test in three months. Pasensiya na ha, you are so knowledgeable about this🥰

They are testing the calcium ions floating freely in your blood. Usually kasi the calcium is attached to albumin (a protein). Levels are regulated by the parathyroid (not thyroid, pero magkapitbahay sila). I’m guessing they are not checking this to see if you have parathyroid issues.
I’m guessing they are checking your levels Kasi pag elevated, this could indicate some cancer, ate, kasi there are some cancers that release chemicals that mimics a hormone they helps to regulate levels in the blood. O di Kaya chemicals to stimulate de-mineralisation ng buto, so yung calcium sa buto is released into the blood as free calcium ions.
I hope this helps 🙂

Scotland still has so many green fields, glens, and hills, Arlene.
I have not changed to Jetpack, I cannot see the need as I use my PC for blogging.
Best wishes, Pete.

Yes, I’ve seen some photos of it and Ireland too. Love those two places even if I’ve just seen them through pictures. Jetpack is the same as the old WordPress reader except for the green color and those prompts they suggest every day.
