I finally got all the results of my laboratory tests last Wednesday and was scheduled for clearance by the Hub’s doctor next week. That is quite too long a wait. I went back to my internist at Medical City yesterday to have the results read. He told me that surely, the doctor won’t give clearance for me to be operated on because I have a high glucose, elevated creatinine and UTI. He changed all my medications and they are more costly than before. I spent close to 10K for a duration of one month. I have to go back to the hospital after a week for lab tests – FBS and urinalysis.
I have a history of chronic UTI since I gave birth to Nissa almost forty years ago. Goodbye cataract operation for now. I have to change my diet too. Learned eating oats and my rice intake for the past week is quite nil. I nibble on nuts when I go hungry and eat whole wheat bread for lunch and dinner. Hopefully by next week, my blood sugar has gone down.
I’m so sorry and so very sad to hear this. I hope things turn for the better soon.💕

How disappointing! You’ve been through so much. I was shocked at all the tests you had for clearance to have a cataract removed. I didn’t have any of the tests you mentioned. ???

Yesterday, my internist explained that if one’s sugar is not normal, it is not advisable to have the operations, it may even costs blindness. I didn’t have them too when my left eye was operated on for cataract back in 2018. Good thing I went to my doctor, I won’t have to report to the Hub for evaluation. Thanks Anne.

When I go to the eye hospital, I don’t have to have any other tests. It sounds as if they should be doing some! 10,000 Pesos is £150. That is a great deal of money for one month’s treatment, Arlene. It makes me grateful we have free medical care here.
Best wishes, Pete.

Well, I really hope that when I come back next, lab results would be a little better. I have just purchased a month supply for my BP a week ago, then it was changed by my internist. He said that med causes dehydration. Thank you.

It is so hard at this stage in our lives when we are always watching our diet now that we can afford to eat whatever we want! The way to go is to learn to love the food that is good for us. Wishing better results for you next time.
