Tomorrow is the beginning of the BER months.

I know some of you will probably react and say, “it’s too early yet”. On Facebook, I saw several photos of our talented composer and singer Jose Mari Chan with captions like”lalabas na ba ako?”, “I’m coming”, “eto na”. All speak on the anticipation of Christmas. I’ve told you in my previous blog posts that we celebrate it the longest in this neck of the woods.
Jose Mari Chan is a Filipino pop singer, composer, TV host, endorser and a business man in the sugar industry. He is well known in those lovely Christmas carols that Filipinos love.
Pandemic? Yes it has changed our outlook in life, changed our priorities, changed how we view our health. We have become so conscious of it but still this virus is wrecking havoc in this world. Last year, I didn’t think of putting up Christmas decorations but I bought family gifts early braving one morning at the mall. This time though, although I am fully vaccinated and had Covid four months ago, I am afraid to go out. We could still celebrate Christmas quietly, attending evening masses online and buying small gifts to celebrate the season with the family.
Christmas is the season for rejoicing. Jesus is coming. It’s a birthday most of us don’t want to miss.
I had never heard of the BER months. Are you in the Philippines? It seems that many of the sites that I googled say this is a tradition there.

We, Filipinos, celebrate it that early and we just love Christmas season. ❤ This pandemic changed us a lot but as you have said, we can still celebrate it the best way we can and still keeping ourselves safe and happy. God bless.

Thank you Arlene. Yes, I rarely meet Filipinos here in WordPress. Also when I joined a site for writing poems, I was browsing through the list of members and found few Filipinos too. I feel happy when I meet ones. Glad to meet you here too. Blessings.

Full vaccination is good. Plus Covid. Though neither protect you 100%. Still you should go out. With mask, gel, distance. Otherwise one gets crazy. All well Arlene?

I think this now our accepted way of life Brian. Peopke say it is the new normal. It may take years yet before we are free of this pandemic. As for going out, we just buy groceries at the store just outside the gate of the village. The rest we buy online, even cooked food.

Yeah, we buy most of our groceries on-line. Thank God for small favours. Take care Arlene.

I miss the long Christmas of home. Pandemic made it impossible for last year and this year to revisit Philippines. Hope and pray pandemic will get better so we get to reunite with love ones.

I wonder if I could enjoy those Christmas carols, my sense of hearing is not completely normal yet.

2020 and 2021 went by so fast… I don’t even remember what I did? Then it’s almost Christmas na. Parang nasayang ang dalawang taon!

Sinabi mo.
