I am having an intermittent headache. Been taking pain reliever for two days now. It has stopped a few minutes ago.
I was trying to read some of my earlier posts back in 2011 when I joined WordPress’ Post A Day Challenge. How I was able to blog every day back then was such a big puzzle to me. The endurance of thinking of what to write about every day without fail. I wonder where my badge got to, it was lost somewhere when I tried to change my blog format. Those were the times I got so many visitors although commenting and liking was unheard of. There were words of encouragement though from WordPress, inspiring words at the end of each entry and the total number of posts you have written since you started blogging. They got lost somewhere along the way. There are so many bloggers now. There are new ones who post a few entries and then suddenly stop writing. Some maybe disappointed by the slow rise of followers and readers.
No matter how good your contents are if your tags and categories are not, you can’t expect people to follow you right away. You build your blog slowly. It always takes a number of years before you can be recognized as a seasoned blogger. There are followers who never take time to even like your posts. Some are there who are bold enough to say that we should follow their blogs too. You don ‘t need to tell me that I should follow you back because if I like what you write about, I will follow it.
I wonder why I could no longer see my dashboard since I started using my tab. It always shows that I have to log in but when I do, it reverts back to the same log in option.
As I have always said, blogging has become a way of life.
I sympathize with you about your headache Arlene… I’m afraid that i suffer from bad headaches often ..
I’ve been blogging for nearly 4 years, and yes It’s a gradual process, the learning of how to blog, and gaining of followers, requires patient calmness, and kind diligence.. Cheers.. I hope you are feeling better soon… 😃💛

It’s always so wonderful to go through your own blogs especially if you’ve been blogging
for some years and yes it takes a while to grow your audience…but I feel it’s the happiness you derive on writing your thoughts that gives even more happiness 🙂
Best wishes and take care…these headaches can be really painful.

Hi Ritu, thanks. I love these lines, “it ‘s the happiness you derive on writing your thoughts that gives even more happiness”. How true😍

I had no idea I would feel such kinship with people around the globe when I began blogging. This has been a fantastic experience, and I’m thrilled you have been part of it.

I’m in my tenth year blogging, and things really have changed, I think a new generation of bloggers brought up with social media has brought about a lot of obsession with views and likes, sometimes over quality of content. I am just happy to make friends and get the ocassional bit of good fortune with opportunities in the book world. I think the art of visiting blogs is lacking for some people, it’s much better to make connections than seem popular.

I love your observation Ste J, some new bloggers don’t focus too much on content, maybe they liken blogging to updating their newsfeed on social media. Thanks a lot.

I thnk that is it, people seem less inclined to actually read other blogs, yet expect others to read theirs. I am happy with my small circle of blogger friends and attempting to find new bloggers to make the acquaintance of.

Same here, I’d rather have a small group of friends who interact with me than having too many. Warm regards to your little Amelia and Cris.

Hi KK, thanks. I am feeling okay, I hope it won’t start again.
I don’t mean to offend those new in the blogging world, these are just plain observations 😘

Whan I put ordpress on my Tablet, it made me download the App, rahter than log in via a search engine. Once I did that, I only had to log in once, and it is always available on there by clicking a shortcut. Mind you, I prefer to use my PC when I am actually blogging, it is much easier on that.
Best wishes, Pete.

I did that Pete but I could not access my dashboard from this option. I wonder why.

At the bottom of the app on my Tablet, it says
‘View Site’
or ‘View Admin’. I choose ‘View Admin’, and it always works.

I have that too but it doesn’t work for me. Thanks Pete.

There are two there, view site and view admin, the latter does not work.

Mine always works. But I have an Amazon Kindle Fire tablet, so I don’t know if that makes any difference, Arlene.

Not sure Pete. My WP is always open when I’m online. I could view everything except the dashboard.

May you remain pain free. I think that many of us older writers really like writing and take the time to post things we would like others to read. We also seem to be readers which is usually the case with writers. Thankfully there are plenty of solid friends here that we follow out of desire not out of advertising.

Hi Elizabeth, I agree with you, writers are also readers.
I am doing good, thanks. So how are now? Did you have your eye lenses changed. I need to have my right eye fixed but not in the next few months.

I have to wait until the end of March. By then my eyes will have settled in enough to get a new prescription. Otherwise I would have to spend money needlessly on lenses that wouldn’t work for long.

Oh, that’s a long way yet, was it a cataract operation?

Yes. One in each eye three weeks apart.

Nice one, my left eye was operated on about three years ago I think. Still wearing multi-coated eye glass to protect my eyes even from the glare of CP and tab.

Maybe that is what I need. The screen is really bothering my eyes and I didn’t know why. I will ask the doctor at the end of the month when I get my prescription.

Ask your optometrist. Even if we have been operated on, our eyesight does not go back to 20/20 vision.

Arlene, I hope that your headache resolved! Blogging has been an interesting adventure and I didn’t expect to connect with so many interesting people around the world. A friend had warned me that I would encounter a lot of nastiness online, but that hasn’t happened. Just kind and friendly people like you! Keep up the good work and stay happy and safe! 🙂

That nastiness your friend mentioned is possible at Facebook (all toxic people are there) but like you, I haven ‘t met anyone here yet. Thanks Sabine.

I’ve heard all about the Facebook toxicity. I’ve never been part of it and will keep it that way. I know for some people it’s the only way to get some news. My blogging experience has been great. I’ve been very happy with WordPress!
