Another photo of the lovely Mt. Matwiltwil. Sunrise at its best. The world is certainly a lovely place.

Sometimes you need to open your eyes to the vista all around you. This was taken in our place in Pangasinan. It is a forty-five minute climb to the top.

I finally had our Santan plants infront of the house trimmed and our side fence planted with Snake plants cleaned. I just hired two of the subdivision’s maintenance workers and gave them half of their daily wage for less than a two-hour job.

Our two doggies had their hair trim too last Saturday. I can no longer take a good shot of Oreo so I took a photo of Cookie instead.

She is now twice the size of Oreo. She is better behaved than Oreo.

I had a nice chat with a high school classmate whom I haven’t seen for so many years. We touched on our families, how it is growing old, our high school and college life. It is so nice to reminisce. We had a good laugh remembering.

Done with my 15th book for this year’s book challenge. Lately read two books of Laura Ingall Wilder’s Little House on the Prairie. I remember those late high school and early college days when the whole family watched the series every night on television. I found it on YouTube and watched the early years. So nice to see them all again. I love the books though. Simple prose about family life and living in the wilderness.

I am trying to read another book by Dean Koontz. Hopefully it’s as good as his two books I’ve read before.

Thoughts

If you could touch one soul out there through your words,

If you could make someone smile despite the tears,

If you could inspire someone who is depressed to move on,

Then you are truly blessed.

God sees the goodness in everyone of us.

Just had a meeting with our chief admin and another admin at our Catholic page. Fr. Louie laid out his plans for our page in the next days until Holy Week.

I am now beginning to earnestly appreciate Zoom, whereas two months ago, I didn’t know how to use the app. Being active in our Catholic page and another Catholic group which I am admin is a big help in my life. I am learning a lot, gaining new friends in the process.

There are more people you’ll meet along life’s road, some would teach you a lesson, you make beautiful memories with a few, you laugh with many. I met a new friend at Sambuhay Interaktib, a co-admin actually, who have the same taste of books as I do. She has also read most inspirational books that I have read before. It is always fun to reminisce and remember. She writes too. There is no dull moment when we get the chance to talk.

I have been more active reading (done fourteen books) than visiting this blog. Sorry if I am quite slow in responding to your posts.

It’s Friday again, some of us always look forward to weekends. Have a lovely and blessed one.

She looked –

As the sun merges slowly with the thin cloud

What would this morning brings, she thought.

Will it be better than yesterday?

Will it bring heartaches again?

She held the cup of almost tepid tea in her hands

Thinking of tomorrow.

The tea leaves have spread at the bottom of the cup.

And she wish she could read what’s written there.

She likes to believe happiness could be hers again.

Maybe tomorrow

Maybe in the future

She wish she could bring the smiles on her face again.

The tea leaves say,

Get up my child, dream on.

A lovely start of 2021 for Nissa and 0bet. They got their new car yesterday, their third since they got married. They sold the first one, a Honda Civic a few months ago.

Officers at the bank are allowed to change cars every five years. 40% of the total cost is shouldered by the bank and 60% by the employee depending on the rank of the employee. Obet is a Senior Manager at Bank of PI. Junior officers are given 20% by the bank and they shoulder the rest.

Nissa wanted a more roomy and comfy car so they purchased a 2021 Ford Territory and got it yesterday. I asked Nissa if they would also sell their Hyundai car but she told me it would be their spare.

The regulatory pose with all car dealers here. They removed their face masks for the photo op.

Ah, happy faces. They took it for a spin yesterday. I told them that if they would have it blessed at Antipolo Cathedral soon, they could leave Nate here since Antipolo is very near our place. It is where the image of the patron saint for travellers is located that is why most car blessings are done there. Would love to see that sunroof.

Today is also the Feast Day of Señor Sto. Ñino, the child Jesus, it is only observed in the Philippines. It is a special privilege given to the country for so many years now. Nissa and the family have their fiesta today.

“For some, life lasts a short while but the memories it holds last forever.

Every year during Dad’s birthday and anniversary, I would find myself blogging about him. If he were alive today, he would have been 99 years old.

Yes, the memories linger like they happened only yesterday. I miss the stories, the life lessons you taught us the values you shared but most of all ….I MISS YOU….still.

Àfter ten years.

Yes, the last we had one physically was at the Sto. Domingo Church.

I’ve been an admin of The Filipino Catholic for more than ten years now. Last night,we finally had a gathering (online edition via Zoom), two hours of fun, laughter and prayers. Lovely meeting old and new friends – priceless camaraderie. We are bound by common faith, a genuinely fulfilling belief in our Lord Jesus Christ.

My mentor, Fr. Louie is a Dominican priest assigned at the University of Santo Tomas (my alma mater). We are planning to make this a regular one now. Next would be during Lent.

That was a very lonely and touching experience for me this afternoon. A friend who is also a neighbor suffered a stroke. Only her daughter was with her when I arrived at their place. She seemed asleep but was still breathing, her snore was so loud. Jom, another neighbor came by too and they called an ambulance.

May I ask for your prayers please? Her name is Mercy Jarque, 81 years old. She is like a mother to me and I am so sad to see her suffer.

I learned a while ago when her daughter came back from the hospital that she was DOA. The daughter is bipolar, sometimes she is not her usual self.

This is quite devastating, someone losing her life in this time when movements of people are limited, when you can’t just go out to condole with the family for their loss. Jill does not want her mom to be cremated so Aling Mercy would be transferred to a funeral home tomorrow morning.
