Oh my, I’ve been reading a book for almost a week now but I am only on chapter 12. How’s that again? Yes, it’s about the Spanish flu. I seem to be more excited updating our new Catholic group on Facebook and engaging with some members that by the time I’m done browsing, I feel so sleepy.
I attend two, sometimes three Novena masses online every night. It is so nice listening to the homilies about the Gospel readings every night. Four more to go and Simbang Gabi will be over. Looking forward to Christmas day.
The other night, Nissa created a “room” for our family. I have ignored that app since it was introduced on Facebook until yesterday when I caught my brother Noel and Nissa talking. It was a video chat, wonderful! We were updated on how Noel celebrated his birthday and I got to see what my sister-in-law prepared for their dinner. I also ignored that other app called “story” since most of my friends who post their stories there also post them at the same time on their news feed, a little redundant I think. I love Messenger though since I get to have long conversations with my friends here and abroad without opening Facebook. Nice, gone are the days when you have to spend so much on overseas calls.
Final delivery of Lazada orders today. It was a big help for us with all those household needs and additional gifts for the family. Nice to have online shopping which is reliable for us shoppers. Even my gifts for our online Kris Kringle was ordered from Lazada and there was a minimal fee of only P85 pesos for delivery expenses. Lazada took charge of it, to think it was as far as Bicol. You order online, instruct them where it would go, and voila, problem solved.
So how is your Christmas preparation? Are you excited?
We were excited but our plans have been dashed by the more severe restrictions just announced. Good to see you are upbeat

I Zoomed with a niece and a mutual friend yesterday. That was marvelous. Today we’ll find out if a church friend and her son are coming for dinner on Christmas day. If they don’t come, we four who live here will have a quiet celebration. We plan to go to an outdoor carol sing and a service on Christmas Eve, and we’ll go to church on Christmas day.

That would surely be a lively celebration Anne. Just learning Zoom.

Our Christmas was fully organised as early as September. As we are eating in a restaurant on the day, we don’t even have to buy too much food this year.
As usual, I will be excited when it is all over. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Where we live is in a low restriction area. We are allowed ‘one day’ of socialising. 🙂

Most gifts were sent by mail this year, but we will deliver some gifts locally (socially distanced of course) then return home for the holiday. I plan to bake cookies tomorrow for two of my grandchildren and deliver them with their gifts. It will just be hubby and I on Christmas day.

Oh, it’s kind of sad when the kids are not around. I wonder if I will be able to see my grandson. Enjoy the short time with them Maggie. It is better to see them personally than not seeing them at all.

I just finished wrapping presents this afternoon. I am having surgery on Tuesday and needed to get that done. I expect all to go well that day.

Oh, sorry to hear that Elizabeth. What kind of surgery? Will be praying for your immediate recovery.

Sounds like you are having a good time getting into the Christmas spirit Arlene! Here it’s just going to be the two of us. Our kids will stop by to pick up their gifts socially distanced. Both of them work and are therefore around a lot of people. Better safe than sorry and we can wish for a nice gathering next year! Be well Arlene!

Opps, my son works from home and Nissa reports to work twice a week. Nate is home schooling. this pandemic brought big changes in our lives indeed. That Kris Kringle at our Catholic is meant to make us all smile despite the distance.
