Most Catholics here in our country waited last night with so much anticipation on the start of our celebration of Simbang Gabi (mass at night) and Misa de Gallo (dawn or rooster mass) early this morning. Simbang Gabi as we usually call it is a nine-day novena before Christmas. It is a lovely tradition we observe every year. I miss going out at night to attend it this time of pandemic. Almost every church go online though. Attendance is still limited when you attend personally at the church, receive communion and participate in the prayers and participate in the singing. That is the limitation of attending masses online but you can choose which church and service you want to listen to.
I think, those in-charge of tracking this Covid pandemic only allows 30% capacity of these celebrations in churches. There is even a directive now starting today that wearing face shields and face masks are mandatory. It used to be where face shields are only seen in malls because they are required by the establishments when you enter. Now, once you leave your house and go to a public place, you have to wear face shields as well with the face masks.
My goodness gracious, they are blind to the fact that most people wear both when they go out. And we’ve been doing it for almost ten months now. Some government officials break their own rules. The present chief of the Phil. National Police even had his mañanita birthday celebration at the height of ECQ some months ago. Are they doing anything? I bet…waiting for available vaccine which is even reported to have been purchased from china.
Government officials breaking their own rules seems ubiquitous

Indeed Derrick. They are just not that serious about this pandemic. When we had that flood brought by typhoon Ulysses, the president’s secretary was out partying.

The vaccinations have started here, but then we got news of a new strain of Covid-19 that might be resistant to them. Just when everyone was feeling positive for once, that news was worrying.
Best wishes, Pete.

Some of our elected officials have been publicly exposed for breaking their own imposed rules. I’m glad you have the church to bring you joy .

I am so grateful for the streaming services. I would be at such a loss without them.

It’s the same here Arlene! Government officials seem to think they are exempt and invincible from COVID rules and precautions. I never leave home without a mask. Just not worth the risk of getting sick or bringing it home to my husband. Stay safe!

That so true and as I’ve said, they are the first ones breaking their rules. Police brutality is even glaring nowadays. A police somewhere in Tarlac killed two civilians in cold blood in front of the kid.

I’ve seen reports on the police in your country. Just unbelievable that no one does anything about it. We have police brutality here as well. It’s mostly directed at people of color. I hope our new administration will make some serious changes to the system, especially now that we’re going to have a female Vice President who’s the daughter of immigrants. I believe if there were more woman leaders in the world there’d be less war and brutality.

Gosh, that’s one dim light before Christmas. An enraged police shot a mother and her son in cold blood in front’ of his child shouting “my father is a policeman”. And it seems even the child felt no remorse for what his father did. Police brutality is so rampant here. This present president allowed them to carry firearms even when they are off duty.
