Opps!
My interest in blogging is waning. Since this lockdown started, there is nothing much to write about. Staying at home is slowly wearing me down. I stopped counting the days since this lockdown. I wonder if this government is telling us the truth. There is a significant spike on the positive cases. Back when there were only around 60, we were told to stay home. Now that they have a total of 16,634 positive cases (3,720 of which have recovered and 942 died), we are now under GCQ (general community quarantine). Those sudden spikes makes one worry. Yes, most business establishments are now open but public utility vehicles are limited to MRT, LRT, AUVs, buses and Grab cars. What about those who still have to take jeepney rides before they could take buses or MRT and LRT trains to reach their destinations? I rest my case, there is no clear provision for those.
Loans left and right but we never see a downward trend on this pandemic. No mass testing is still being done. I presume with that big amount of loans and contribution from the private sector, they could at least show a small flattening of the curve so to speak. Where do those funds go? And the man across the Pasig River is waiting for those vaccines from his BFF in china which they could experiment on the Filipino people. I say, mauna muna sila at mga alipores niya. They say our mortality rate is very low but we are the highest among Asian countries. What a shame!!! A lost life is still a loss most especially to one’s family.
Everything has changed and we call it our “new normal”. Yes of course, you can still get in touch with some family members and friends but it’s kind of different when you get to talk over the phone. Sometimes, it is quite frustrating that you can’t see them personally and hug them. I miss my darling Nate, I miss Nissa and Obet. I miss their monthly visit.
I tried reading a love story in between my serious historical fiction but I could not relate to it anymore unlike in high school when I used to devour M & B. BTW, it might interest you to know that I have at least read a total of 53 books for this year’s challenge. Not bad for someone who has become so lazy the past few days.
I agree. Right now it is difficult to write.
What to say……..

I can’t imagine being, in effect, under house arrest. I think you’ve done well to read and blog as much as you have. Surely things will get better soon!!

I hope so too Anne but the way I see it, it will take a long time.

Hi Meena. Yes, every one of us is affected by this pandemic. Plans went awry because of it. Just take care and keep safe.

It is a bit crazy how these restrictions are going. In our province, there are 150 cases and the governor wants an extension of the mecq. Compared to Manila that will be gcq, it is quite unreal.

So it’s now our new normal, until when? Everything has changed even the way we look at life. Thanks for the visit.

Realy hard to say until when. Maybe we will have to be like this for a while, or until there is a vaccine?

I guess so but vaccine takes a long time.

Yes, they do. We just have to make sure we are social distancing and being super hygienic until then. It can still be frustrating though.

Today, they started with the general community quarantine and many people were left stranded in going to work, not enough public transport.

Yes, here, too. Not sure how this works because of the problem you mentioned. It is very strange, and if I may add, a tad elitist.

I agree, we’re kind of lucky, my two kids have their cars but I am thinking how difficult it is to commute without enough planning and support from the govt. And they are biased against us senior citizens. Some supermarkets don’t allow senior citizens to shop. I don’t drive but I usually go to my doctor for check-up alone. Now I could not even go out without the kids around to drive me there. It’s definitely annoying.

It is hard to be under a government with an incompetent leader. The Filipinos sadly are not their priority and they keep defending those illegal aliens here. Thanks Derrick ✌

I don’t seem to be able to concentrate on reading since this started, but have no idea why that is. Fortunately, my head is still full of things to write about, so my blog has not suffered at all.
Best wishes, Pete.

We each have our own mechanism of coping Pete. Yours is writing, I want to lose myself in reading though.

There is still no end in sight Wilma, sad to say. They are more busy filling their pockets than thinking of ways to alleviate the plight of the people. Kawawa lalo mga OFWs, there are thousands now who are left jobless because they can’t go back abroad. Those small businesses are closing too.

Here nearly 4000 people have died in our state. Since there is no end in sight, I am praying to know what direction my life should take in this new reality. The transition is difficult from the way we knew life into the unknown. I think it has thrown all of us in a deep way. In your case it is affecting your desire to write. As long as I hear from you now and then I am happy.

Thank you, thank you Elizabeth. Life is so uncertain nowadays but we need to keep the faith. Just sometimes, it is hard to see what is happening around. Though I am willing to stay home and be safe, I feel senior citizens like me are being discriminated on. They have lots of restrictions which at my age I don’t need. I feel we seniors are more cautious and careful.

I think they are trying to protect us from all the people who are not cautious and careful. That’s how I feel, anyway.

Well, here they are more focused on other things like the closure of ABS CBN, the incarceration of Sen. De Lima and passing an anti-terrorist bill in which you can no longer criticize how they run this govt. It is more like Martial Law.
