We are on day 48 of the ECQ (enhanced community quarantine).
A two-day “hard lockdown” is being imposed by Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on District 1 of Tondo and that is where Obet’s family live. I asked Nissa early this morning if they are prepared for it and she told me they have enough supply so far. I am really wondering what “hard lockdown” means. That means everyone could not go out of their homes for two straight days and by Wednesday they’re back on the enhanced community quarantine.
This situation either brings the best in us or the worse for that matter. There are still families who live now solely on donation and food packs given by generous individuals and their local governments. I’d like to pay our electricity bills but since there are no meter readings and no bills for April and May, I could not do so. I also need to know the phone reference number so I could pay online but that is only included in their regular billing. Since I left the bank almost twenty years ago, I enrolled all our utilities online, so convenient and so easy.
Would you believe that for the past week, I’ve been reading Christmas stories? I am on my third book actually. It is a nice change and it is more inspiring reading books with happy endings and celebrating a lovely occasion than concentrating on the disturbing news about Covid-19. Learning to cope with the times, the “new normal” so to speak.
This morning, I let Josef trimmed my hair, about an inch at the back and on the sides too. Got no choice really. The weather is hot so long hair is not practical…haha 🙂
How are you all?
wow..”Hard Lockdown”…. I wonder what that is ??….. we are still on lock down in Australia….we are allowed to go out for essential shopping, and exercising (walking) xx

Shopping for essentials yes but only for those who have quarantine passes and as long as you observe the curfew hours too.

Oh wow, that is hard to cope. But maybe that is for the better. Hope you are ok as well as your sanity. Those light, happy Christmas stories may help.

Funny we have watched some Christmas movies this week. Here the science can’t agree between tightening the lowdown or the government’s preference which is to start removing it. All a bit of a mess.

Thanks. I hope they would decide for the best solution for the good of the people. Christmas movies and stories are uplifting, aren’t they?

I love that you are reading Christmas stories! Our state is one of the first to reopen and it has been a bit controversial. Doing my part to comply and praying this Pandemic will just go away!!! Stay safe and take care.

I am not at all surprised that you are reading Christmas stories, Arlene. I have been expecting you to note how many days are left to Christmas too. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

You made me laugh Pete. One way of coping? I am not thinking of those days yet but I am enjoying reading about Christmas 🥰🌲🎅

We are retired, so our lives are not as affected as most. Yesterday we met our neighbors outside to have a cookout. What a welcome break that was! It was wonderful to talk to people face to face, though six feet apart. We didn’t break any rules and broke up saying we should do this again soon.

That’s pretty good Anne, you still get to socialize with the neighbors.

Today it was sunny. I brought out a tape measure and sat 6 feet from my grandchildren and played a game on our tablets. Had something changed where your family lives that they increased the lockdown?

Yes, there are more people positive of Covid. The hard lockdown at Obet family’s place will be until tomorrow.

I hope they can curb the infection rate there.

He did, what I read is they refused to air one of his ads before the election back in 2016 and returned the money. He is so vindictive.

Because the governor of my state is an idiot, we are open again even though cases of the virus are increasing. Anyone over 65 or with a compromised immune system or an underlying illness is asked to “shelter in place,” but everyone else can come and go as they please, and businesses are free to reopen. My husband and I continue to stay at home except to buy food and medicines. Our state and national government are insane.

Same here Elizabeth, private schools want to have classes open by June. Could they guarantee the safety of the students and little children? It is not safe until a vaccine is in place.

I don’t get what hard lockdown is for, when prior to this, the people crowd around the wet markets and groceries to buy food and other necessities. I wish they’d allow some public transport soon.

Hard lockdown is short-lived, around two days only. They did that in Tondo and Sampaloc. No one was allowed to go out.
