I am getting quite lazy again. I was supposed to do a little gardening this afternoon but around this time, it is still so hot outside.
Since Oreo isn’t here, the house is so quiet. Josef and Jovy have an outing at Baler, Aurora province with their officemates. Baler is one of Luzon’s hidden gems. Located 231 kilometers (143.5 mi) north-east of Manila, it is farther than our town in Pangasinan for about one to two hours from here. It is a surfer’s paradise because the town’s coast faces the Pacific Ocean. I asked Josef early this morning if Oreo has gone swimming yesterday. He said Oreo loves the water. They bought him his own life jacket. Imagine a little dog complete with accessories too like that and sunglasses. They are made for small pets like him. This doggie is pampered. He has his own “baon”, provisions like Pedigree DentaStix, doggie biscuits, diaper and vitamins.
My goodness, I still love afternoon siesta, I thought when I woke up it is already morning. How lazy could one be? It is Sunday after all.
There are so many changes instituted by the church because of this corona virus. We have to take communions by the hands now, some holy water fonts are empty because they want to prevent contamination, holding hands while saying the Lord’s Prayer is now a no,no, no kissing during Peace greetings. Even the celebration on the Lenten rituals has changed. Veneration of the cross will now be done by genuflecting. The Kumpisalang Bayan (a night set aside for annual confessions) is now scrapped. They have it every day instead using the confessional box. Before, you can confess face to face. It is no longer allowed.
I’ve gotten hold of one more novel. It’s entitled The Golden Son by Shilpi Somaya Gowda. Getting to know more about rural India. Love it. It’s my 30th read this year at Goodreads. Seventy more books to go 🙂
I think it is good to cut down on so much contact during religious services. Every precaution helps. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

It does Pete and I’m they are doing it for our sake. Our town are distributing face masks for free and they are providing food and medical assistance to the four kids whose parents were found positive with the virus.

The changes because of the virus are drastic, but necessary, I’m sure.

I do agree with you Anne. Caution is the key🤗

Our priest put sand in our holy water font. I thought that was interesting.

Not familiar with that too. Does sand helps in preventing the spread of the virus? Just curious.

I hadn’t thought of that, but if someone with the virus dipped their fingers in the water, that would contaminate the water. So I understand not having water in the holy water font. But would sand have less of a chance of becoming contaminated? I don’t know.

Know what, our Dept. Of Health is not ready for this corona virus, their test kits are only about 2,000. The government has allowed around 500,000 chinese in the country since last December without quarantine. The president (kuno) does not want to offend china at the expense of all Filipinos. Budget for Dept. Of Health was slashed by 10 billion and was placed at the personal budget of the president. They are getting worse.

Sounds like here. Our president says the virus will just disappear. We do not have test kits available, and the health experts are saying that within 2 weeks all hospitals will be overrun with corona virus patients. President Trump has been exposed to the virus through someone who shook hands with a person who tested positive, and he refuses to get tested. We have several members of Congress who were exposed to the virus. Our government has lied to us so much that no one knows what to believe. Many people believe the president when he says this is a hoax and is no worse than the flu. But yesterday one of my husband’s doctors told us to stop going to Mass because my husband is at very high risk of dying if he should contract the virus. So we are taking whatever precautions we can and staying home as much as we can. I think my country is in the same situation as your country. Sad.

Oh my gosh, same thing here. And that is not even a responsible statement coming from your president. Out health care workers here will be the most affected if this becomes pandemic. Private hospitals and not even provided with test kits. If you let t5he govt. do all the procurement. afraid corruption would be a done deal again. Yes, it is really so sad.
