We are not being racist but Chinese immigrants have grown to millions since the president took over back in 2016. Now those occupying apartments/condominiums in the South of Metro Manila are Chinese, depriving some Filipinos of affordable places to live in. I read in some reports that they pay double or triple the amount that is supposed to be paid and they pay in advance. A very lucrative business to those Filipinos who grab the chance to earn more. Come to think of it, they have constructed housing facilities too. The president welcomes them with open arms.
What are best friends for anyway? Duterte said that it is unfair to impose travel ban considering the closeness of the two nations. It behooves me to understand that China is far greater important to him than his own people who he promised to serve when he got elected. 16M die-hard duterte followers.
We have POGO now (Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators) owned and managed by the Chinese. Lately, there are prostitution dens being patronized by these people. They come in without visa, and the Philippines issues visa right there and then upon arrival.
Now we have our first case of the coronavirus. A Chinese woman who came from Huwan, passed by Hong Kong, landed in Cebu City then went to Manila. Now she is confined at San Lazaro Hospital, a public hospital for communicable diseases which is so close to the university belt. I fear for those small kids who have to commute to and from school exposing them to the danger of the virus.
Finally, they have to wait that one gets infected before issuing travel ban but according to reports it is only confined to Huwan province but reports also say that the virus is now all over china.Oh,I guess issuing a travel ban now is moot because China has lockdown. Too late the hero, that’s how uncaring our government is.
We don’t have those modern facilities to address this just like other nations so we must really be wary of the happenings here. No enough training even for health personnel to handle it. And the “good” secretary of health seems to be just following orders from his boss.
Philippines, I ask this once more, where are we going?
Aaargh ! Tita, I can’t comment here…. I don’t want to rant.

That’s the scenario we have here now Derrick.

Your government (and many others) is putting trade and profits ahead of the lives of their people. But it is a sad fact that such things have always happened. If the infection spreads, no doubt your president will take his millions and go to live in another country.
Best wishes, Pete.

I am thinking of that too Pete. When money speaks, values go down the drain and it’s the poor who suffer. Those in the lowest rung of society could not even afford three meals a day, how much more for a face mask that would protect them a little from this worldwide coronavirus?

Corruption at all levels. I am sorry that no one seems interested in protecting your people.

Possibly though the competition is fierce worldwide… (We do have quite a specimen here…)

Haha, competition indeed. I guess it is a worldwide phenomenon, having those politicians in our midst. Sad for us because we have to endure all their wrong doings. Such stupidity at its best.

I always wonder how, since humanity has never been more educated, we keep electing worse and worse politicians everytime

I guess that’s true Brian. Gone are those politicians who had integrity and word of honor, who were not corrupt.

And let me tell you. It’s not just politics. It’s many avenues of human activity, business too. Sigh.

oh no! I’m sorry to hear you guys have your first case already. Praying it won’t spread. Lower income countries are at risk the most. China seems to have infiltrated the whole world.I didn’t realize you have so many Chinese people in the Philippines.

They are here everywhere. They even have control now of some of our islands in the West Philippine Sea and the govt. is doing nothing about it. Our president is very friendly to china he he has billions of loans that are not used in the development of the country. Sad reality for us.

You are too right, they are everywhere. New Zealand is panicking, since they are banned from coming here because of the virus, our tourism is suffering. We can’t export anything to China, which is really effecting our economy. I’m thinking maybe we will be able to finally get decent home grown foods for a reasonable price. The virus is really affecting the so much of the world.
