Nissa finally got the result of the final biopsy when she visited her surgical oncologist this afternoon.
It’s stage one thyroid cancer. She will have to undergo one session of radiotherapy and has to go back to her endocrinologist for further assessment.
Feeling sad about this but I know she will get well completely.Β She will report back to work onΒ Monday.
God is good and God is great!
So no surgery after all? That must be a relief.
Wishing the very best outcome for lovely Nissa, Arlene.
Best wishes, Pete.

She already had it Pete last Tuesday. The doctor showed me the specimen they got from her. He removed her thyroid completely. I blogged about it earlier here. https://arlene1956.wordpress.com/2019/09/05/going-home-at-last-2/

Nissa has seen you fight cancer and win. My thyroid no longer functions, so I have to take a pill a day. I presume Nissa will have to do that, too. It’s such a little thing to do, but it’s worth it.

Thank you Anne for the vote of confidence. I heard so much from many people that thyroid cancer is very treatable especially in its early stage.

It is never what you want to hear, but I know several people who have had the same diagnosis and treatment and they are doing very well with no new problems.

My friend’s daughter had to have a treatment where she ingested radioactive substance and had to be apart from people for a few days. Hers was a little more advanced than Nissa’s. Total remission from Stage 1 is the norm today. the only issue will be adjusting the thyroid pills. Great news that it wasn’t more advanced.

My mom underwent the same thing Elizabeth years ago, taking radioactive medicine and she was prevented from even kissing the grandkids for a month. Nissa is quite positive she’ll heal for good. Believing and having faith is one good attitude to nurture.

Yes that is what my friend’s daughter had to go through. I am glad that Nissa’s case is less serious.

I’m sorry to hear that it is cancer, she is still so young, but so grateful that it was caught so early! What symptoms did she have?

There was a cyst in her left throat and it got a little big. Thank you Lelanie!
