Yesterday, I went back to my doctor so he could interpret the results of my lab tests. He asked if I voted and I said yes. He looked at me, smiled a sad smile and uttered “talo”. We talked of the previous election maybe for about two or three minutes before he reviewed my files. “MaybeΒ it was rigged?“, I asked him.Β “You’re right”, he said. His doctor wife stopped for a while on her way to her clinic and said, “92% counted and still zero for Otso Diretso”.
I have deficiency in Vitamin D so I have to take 2,000 I.U. of Vitamin D daily complimented by calcium supplements. Since the medicine could only be sourced at Healthy Options, I had no recourse but to go there yesterday afternoon.
I had a good chat with the manager of Healthy Options when she approved my senior citizen’s card and asked about the election in our place here in Cainta. She knows the present mayor who won for the third time this election. We touched on previous mayors here who did nothing to the town. Atty. Mayor Kit Nieto is loved by the Cainta residents, I told her. They don’t want him to go. He won hands down over his former Vice-Mayor asΒ his opponent.
Social media is still awashed with different opinions and comments on what is happening here. Those Duterte diehards say that we should respect the decisions of the voters. How could we do that when it is glaring that there seemed to be massive cheating in the senatorial level? The candidates were not actually the losers, we are.
Hoping the truth will come out fare and square. Some are suggesting and demanding to have manual counts of the senatorial votes all over the land.
You see how dirty politics is?
Keep well, Arlene

I hope the new medicine helps. It seems that the election there is getting everyone talking, understandably so. I cannot imagine my doctor discussing voting or politics, that’s for sure. π
Best wishes, Pete.

Haha, he is a well-rounded guy. I like the way he treats his patients. They make them feel at home. I started taking the new meds yesterday.

Arlene – politics can certainly be a mixed bag of shenanigans! The past 5 years I also have had to take 2000mg of Vitamin D every day – but my doc is now happy with my Vit D levels. Blessings! ππ€ππππ€π

I’ll take it for a month Virginia then another lab test. My doctor said it is useless to take calcium supplements of you have a Vit D deficiency. Thanks!

I grieve for your country and all lands where votes are tampered with.
I take Vitamin D and calcium, too — have for years.

Anne, when I think of it, I don’t see the bright side of the horizon. We’ve been sold to china by this no good president. He is beholden to china at the expense of the Filipino people.

Yes, that feeling that it might probably take another 50 years before the country could recover. Those they elected are corrupt, plunderers. I don’t where we’re going. Just praying everything would be okay in the end.

You are doing the needed thing — praying. One other thing you might already be doing is to talk to the next generation. Let them know how things used to be and what is important to you for your country. John and I talk about politics in front of our grandchildren so they will know what we believe. Of course, they are much older than your Nate. I will be praying for all of you.

I often do that. Even gave them some lessons when Martial Law was declared back in 1972. Imagine, I remember during Marcos’ time, we had to go in line to buy 5 kilos of rice. That’s the maximum you can buy when it is available. Thank you so much for the prayers. Prayers are what we need.

They said the Otso Diretso had the wrong strategy, that they trained their guns on the still very popular president. (Are these DDS clueless on what he is doing to the country?) But I think, they were just lacking in funds since the competitors were already campaigning even before the campaign period, with lots of TV and radio ads. The candidates of the administration also can claim government projects such as the “Malasakit” Health centers to be their own. The Otso Diretso guys were disadvantaged from the start. At least, give them a fair election!

That’s so true. the administration has all the means. Di ba bong go campaigned for a year prior to the election and the Comelec did nothing? It is not surprising that this will be the result, add the loyal dds who hate everything to do with the opposition. Never mind if they are better and more qualified than the administration’s choices.

My wife is Filipina and she’s followed the election from here in the U.S. Her thoughts are similar to yours. She’s disappointed and disgusted.
I used to be very political with strong opinions about the state of affairs, particularly the disaster that is Trump.
It’s ironic that my wife and I have done a sort of role reversal. I’ve divorced myself from politics and she’s now engaged with it. I try to tell her that life’s too short to get so angry at things that we have no control over.
I hope for all Filipinos that the situation in your country corrects itself.

I hope so too Paulie. With what is happening now, one can’t help but react. As I’ve said this administration is so obvious about it all. They don’t want opposition senators to oppose their mandates.
