Oh my gosh, our area is now included in water rationing starting tomorrow. Late this afternoon though when our village coordinator announced it, the water pressure was so low. I filled up every container we have here. Good thing we have our overhead tank which provides water inside the house and we have a bypass water outlet at the dirty kitchen and at the garden. I even filled up our small pond which has stayed empty ever since we lost the Koi fish a few years ago.
In some areas here in Metro Manila, they had no water for about a week now. There are scheduled hours which they have to interrupt their distribution but having it back is never on time.
In Cebu which is a part of the Visayas region, farms have become so dry the soil was cracked. I am worried about the coming summer days. Demand for water has become so high and the water levels at Angat Dam and La Mesa Dam are now critical. These dams supply water in Metro Manila.
Water is life. You can survive without electricity but water is a necessity.
My goodness! We take water for granted! I hope your situation will improve.

I hope so too Anne 🙂 There is still summer to think of.

I hope we do, rain is not in the radar yet Virginia, there is still the summer coming.

Yes, we cannot even imagine life without water. We too get water for limited hours.

You’re right. We really need to conserve water because everyone is affected. Thanks Mukhamani.

Couldn’t agree more and understand as we have a well here in Spain. Not sure any country should take water for granted these days as the climate is so unpredictable .It is fine to live without electricity but water is essential and the reservoirs here have been low even after a lot more rain than usual last year. I hope there is some relief and good water management will be needed.

I do agree with you. I hope they find some water sources aside from the two dams which supply Manila water. There is El Nino going on in some areas right now.

Is that related to the level of corruption or just due to the weather?

First thing I think it is due to the weather. I wonder though if there is something not aligned at all. Since three years ago when we had this president administration, everything has gone awry.

Scary! Without water, there is no life! Are there problems with the infrastructure, Arlene? I hope that this problem gets resolved quickly.

I don’t think there are problems with the infrastructures Sabine but there is simply not enough supply for the whole Metro Manilans.

It is really scary if this goes on till summer and cloud seeding is not even an option. There have to be thunderstorm clouds enough to push it when they do cloud seeding.

A few years ago I took an environmental geography class at a local college. I remember the instructor saying that future wars will be fought over water. That was a sobering moment. I hope you get some rain soon!

Praying on it Sabine. As I have said earlier, water is life. We can’t exist without it. Thanks again.

That seems unbelievable in this modern world, Arlene. I hope that your proper supplies return soon.
Best wishes, Pete.

It is indeed Pete. Sad isn’t it? I woke up this morning and we still have water.

It’s difficult to appreciate something until it is taken away. It took a while to teach myself not to drink from the tap when I came here. I hope they sort the problem soon, it’s worrying.

It really is Ste J. Though we haven’t been affected till now, I am sad for those who wait for rationed water in fire trucks. Some don’t have water for about a week now.

I feel their pain and thirst. We have a leak, perfect timing after reading this post yesterday. We turned our water off last afternoon and it’s been a day and already I miss it. I can’t imagine going without for a week though.

Have you read about the latest news? There is actually no water shortage. The water at Angat Dam where La Mesa gets its supply has enough to last until the end of summer. It looks there is something fishy here because they want to build Kalinga Dam through funding from China. This has been approved back in Pres. Aquino’s time through PPP but in 2016, the present administration changed it to their build, build, build project at a higher cost. Meantime, the people suffer.

Is your place being supplied by Manila Water? We’re still lucky as we are with Maynilad. But I’m praying hard because summer is just starting.

Yes, we are supplied by Manila Water. Luckily though, our place has not been affected by the water shortage so far. I wonder what the govt. will do amidst this problem.

I wonder how my aunt( who’s residing in our house in Paranaque is doing) We have a big water tank over there, and when there’s a water problem, I remember water was being delivered to our house. Seriously, Tita, I’m really, rally worried about the political situation there. I think the Duterte family wants to rule over the country without any opposition. I watched on Youtube that even Catholic priests are getting harassed by his supporters. is it true he is supported by 90% of the population? It’s unbelievable. I also hear his supporters are unbelievably nasty and dangerous. Opposing him can be fatal.

Don’t believe it Ren, those surveys are fake. a lot of intelligent Filipino voters won’t touch the admin candidates. And it’s true, he keeps cursing every day and he even said he will kill Mar Roxas for free (Panelo says joke lang daw). I think Paranaque is supplied by Maynila and they are not affected because they get their water from Laguna de Bay.

Well, he also cursed Pope Francis.. and we don’t even have to mention the way he cursed Pres. Obama. Is he selling off the country to the Chinese ?

He is not selling, he sold it na. I wonder how they could still sleep at night knowing what they are doing to the country and its people. Or maybe wala na talagang “conscience”.

Maynilad, I mean. Every day, you will be fed up with all those lies coming from their mouths They are even so fond of fake Memes. They get pictures from other places (like a crowd) and claim it as their own. Such a shame, this govt. is.

I would never guess there would be water shortage where you are. Scary …

Just read this a while ago. The water bypass from Angat Dam to supply water in La mesa Dam is closed per allegedly an order from the govt. (MWSS) who regulates the two concessionaires of distributing water to their customers. They want to build a dam funded by China at such a high rate on interest. Shame on them. Thanks Amy.
