I just wrote my 2,525th post a while ago. From time to time, I visit my dashboard and clean spam comments which are filtered by Akismet (just so blessed Akismet is here to classify those unwanted comments in our blogs).
How do you find bloggers that you follow aside from those who follow your blogs? Some are followers of our blogger friends who probably read our exchange of comments and decided to visit and read a few lines. Some probably appeared at the bottom of your post because they had posted similar subject like you did. Anyway, no matter how you found them, aren’t you glad that you did? Lately, I visited and thanked those who followed my blog the past few days, reading some post and comments and liking those that are wonderfully written. Sometimes, I return the favor and follow back.
Are you that kind of blogger who looks for seasoned writers with thousands of followers and statistics in their blogs? Or do you take a chance on those blogs with not even a hundred followers but their writings are interesting and they have lovely contents? I am one of the latter I guess. Photo journals are lovely, blogging about farm life is interesting too but I love garden blogs. I love those flowers which normally don’t grow in tropical countries like ours. I love blogs about family and faith. I am mesmerized by those photo blogs featuring countries like Italy, France and some exotic places in Asia. I’ve found memoirs featuring these countries and read them with gusto.
Just received a comment from a blogger promoting a product. And this was approved by WordPress because it was nicely worded. Sorry, I am not into it.
Blogging about blogging, anyone?
I followed people who mostly wrote very different blogs to mine. I also like to see photo blogs of some excellent photographers who take much better photos than I do. I also admire loyalty, so when somebody has followed my blog for a very long time, I do eventually follow them back.
But I never follow bloggers who ask “Please follow me back”, as their only comment on a post. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Same thing here Pete, I don’t follow those whose only purpose is to follow them back. I think that is true with most new bloggers.

I’m with you entirely, Arlene. Can’t remember how we met 🙂

I don’t remember when too Derrick. I don’t even remember who added who first. I enjoy reading your blog posts.

I follow mostly anyone who follows me, just yesterday I followed someone who had zero followers and only 3 posts. I read all her posts, they were very interesting, and opened communication with her.
I really don’t care how many followers a blogger has, I’m more interested in their content; and I believe in reciprocity of course.

Same here Racquel. Blogging has become a way of life 🙂

I used to follow a lot, Arlene. Now I only follow blogs where I enjoy the content or the relationship with the blogger.

I guess when we are just starting to blog, we follow so many bloggers. In the long run though, we also find bloggers whose content we enjoy reading. I have just about 125 blogs that I follow, something I could manage to read when they update their sites. Thanks Diana!

That’s a nice manageable number. I follow far more which is why I’m choosier now. 🙂

I refrain following those who haven’t updated their blogs for a year or more and look for other bloggers to follow.

I normally visit the visitors who approach my blog, the decide whether to follow…

I do that too Amy, visit those bloggers who follow my blog and read some of their posts, if I like it, I also follow.

I follow blogs that interest me. Sometimes, because they followed me first, other times because the blogger said something interesting in comments of somebody that I already read. And, I do read Discovery.

I read Discovery too Ray. The best source for bloggers with interesting and good content. It is always nice to see your blog posts almost every day. Thanks for the visit 🙂

I look for thoughtful comments on other people’s blogs. I hope for the interaction of comments and blogs when I start to follow someone. Occasionally I go ahead and follow someone who never responds to my comments knowing how hectic their life is(from reading their blog.) Usually, though, if I don’t hear back, I stop following after a while.

Some bloggers (I mean some) give too much importance on how many other bloggers follow them. When I follow a blog that I like, I don’t expect them to follow me back although most of them do. When someone follows me, I usually check the site and follow back when I love and like the content of the blog.
