I can’t believe this. My favorite author and poet is gone. All these years, I have admired her thoughts and her words.
I’ve been blogging about her since I can remember. I am so lucky to have four of her books, A Thousand Mornings, New And Selected Poems Vol. 1, Upstream and one of her latest books, Devotions.
When I feel so alone, I peruse her poems and I am uplifted. She could write about anything under the sun and when she writes about nature, you feel like you are there communing with her. When she writes about feelings, you feel like crying.
One of my favorite quotes from her which I have memorized over the years are these words:
Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?
Goodbye, sweet friend.
Mary Oliver was an amazing inspiration. How wonderful it is that her inspiration remains for us in her well-preserved writings. ❤

Yes, I agree. Her words would last forever. Do you have many of her books?

No I do not hold any of her treasures on my bookshelf but I do in my heart. Mary’s poetry guide was a required college read for me. Here and there I enjoyed some of her other collections. All were brilliant. ❤

A very well-ripened Emily Dickinson indeed. And might I add, Mary Oliver words are so complimentary for the human spiritual modes. I can understand how your finding companionship with this selection. She was unique and I am sure her writings gave her the same comfort as she has generated
to all who have read her collections.

I had not heard that she had died. I will always be grateful that her poetry formed a bond between my quite reserved mother-in-law and me.

Yes, she will always be alive through her writings. My friend who gave me those four books promised to buy more of her other books when she goes back to the US.
