A while ago, I covered my new books with plastic including the book I bought for Nate as an additional gift for his 6th birthday. I can’t help but read a few chapters of Stuart Little. I remembered the movie adaptation I’ve seen with my kids years back. Stuart Little is E.B. White’s first book for children. I laughed at Stuart’s adventures. I hope Nate would love to read this too when he reach that age that he can grasp and understand every sentence in a story.
When Nissa and Josef were at Nate’s age, I used to buy them books too and exercise pamphlets that would aid them in their studies. I started Nissa with a small journal with lock and key and every year during her birthday and on some other occasions, I would buy children’s books that she could share with Josef. Those Dell books for kids were certainly a big help to them to appreciate books and reading. We lost all of them when our place got flooded back in 2009.
It’s a thrill to read children’s books once in a while. You remember the growing up years. You remember the days when you were just learning how to appreciate the written words.
You remember a time when you dreamed and magic did exist

I agree that re-reading such books as an adult can give you a whole new perspective on the writing. Why not indeed.
Best wishes, Pete.

I enjoyed it Pete. I also read Charlotte’s Web now and then, another E.B. White book.

I don’t separate children’s from adult books on my shelves. Sometimes there is no difference

And sometimes we learn more lessons from them.

My mom had saved my favorite books from when I was little and she gave them to me so I could read them to my daughter. It was fun going down memory lane and sharing those memories with my daughter!

I recently downloaded (for free) all of the Beatrix Potter books and plan to read them soon. Not too long ago I enjoyed reading The Wind in the Willows. And I’m starting the Wizard of Oz books again. Such fun!

Oh wow, What link did you use? I am not yet done with the series of Anne of Green Gables. I haven’t completed the books yet.

The Beatrix Potter collection was being offered for free on Amazon.com, but I just checked, and it’s no longer free. Sometimes I search for books and unexpectedly find them for free for limited periods of time. I download them to my Kindle reader and then read them at my leisure.

Agreed. The kids are 22 and 17 now, we still watch Stuart Little. My library still holds all their books.

It’s a good thing you were able to keep their books. I regret that we have lost those lovely books they had when they were young. My daughter still remembers the movie when we watched years and years ago.

My daughter’s stuffed toys are still practically new, they are now kept in a plastic box and were washed before she arranged them in that big box.
