I would love to re-phrase this quote from E.B White,“I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day.”
My thoughts:
I would just love to enjoy the world right at this moment. I choose to dream of pleasant things that would make life worthwhile. I choose happiness over negative thoughts that sometimes linger in my mind. I choose Today.
Sometimes, happiness is found in the smallest details of people’s lives. The untrodden path may seem daunting at the start, but it’s when you are brave enough to follow the trail that gives life meaning, it’s when you stumble along the way that you’ll really know that the end of the road is a beautiful vista of surprises. Sometimes, life alters and we tend to give up but sometimes it’s when we do that we see the dawn of a new day, a new promise of spring, a sunrise that tells us, it is another beautiful day.
Life is simple but sometimes we make it too complicated. We think of things that are not really that necessary in our lives. We try to reach the top no matter what. It is sometimes easier when we glide along, follow the tide and we will eventually reach the shore. Of course, ambitions are to be nurtured, and dreams can turn into reality. Having faith, believing in what you can do, aspiring to do the best and doing things that could make us just that….happy.
I started reading some poems and articles of Mary Oliver last night from the book that I received from my friend Odette. This one made me think. It is entitled Don’t Hesitate from her book Swan which was published last 2010.
If you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy, don’t hesitate. Give in to it. There are plenty of lives and whole towns destroyed or about to be. We are not wise and not very often kind. And much can never be redeemed. Still, life has possibility left. Perhaps this is its way of fighting back, that sometimes something happens better than all the riches or power in the world. It could be anything, but very likely you notice it in the instant when love begins. Anyway, that’s often the case. Anyway, whatever it is, don’t be afraid of its plenty. Joy is not made to be a crumb.
