Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Ole Oak Tree
I’m comin’ home, I’ve done my time
Now I’ve got to know what is and isn’t mine
If you received my letter telling you I’d soon be free
Then you’ll know just what to do
If you still want me, if you still want meWhoa, tie a yellow ribbon ’round the ole oak tree
It’s been three long years, do you still want me?
If I don’t see a ribbon round the ole oak tree
I’ll stay on the bus, forget about us, put the blame on me
If I don’t see a yellow ribbon ’round the ole oak treeBus driver, please look for me
‘Cause I couldn’t bear to see what I might see
I’m really still in prison and my love, she holds the key
A simple yellow ribbon’s what I need to set me free
And I wrote and told her pleaseWhoa, tie a yellow ribbon ’round the ole oak tree
It’s been…
Tomorrow, is Ninoy Aquino Day. Ninoy Aquino Day is a national non-working holiday in the Philippines observed annually on August 21, commemorating the assassination of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr.
That song was so popular back then. Nice to see the tradition continues for you, Arlene.
Best wishes, Pete.

Yes Pete. Remembering those days when we gained our democracy back. Now it is being threatened again by another Marcos-like president.

John’s sister, her husband, and their four children were on an airplane at the airport the day Aquino was killed. They had worked at a mission and had begun their journey home. No one explained why everyone was detained on the plane for hours. After landing in Tokyo, they saw pictures and headlines in an English newspaper. Mystery solved.

Oh wow, so maybe they still remember too. His assassination triggered that bloodless Feb. 1986 EDSA revolution here. Thanks Anne!

I’m sure the adults remember that day vividly. I’m not sure what memories the children would have.

Thanks Anne, though it was a big inconvenience for them, it was a sad day for all of us here. His life was not wasted, he became a hero for most of us. Bu then, some of us too never learn from history. The president now is worse than Marcos.

I am unfamiliar with this history. Who killed him?

Would you believe, those soldiers at the tarmac were jailed but the mastermind was never known. Most people say, it was Marcos’ idea.
