A food for thought Mar? And yes, why not make a blog of this?
“Why do girls like gifts that last so long?” Mar asked.
“This could be a whole blog“, Agnes commented.
“It’s because we love making and keeping memories and gifts of that nature are worth-keeping”, I said.
“Maybe because that kind of gift is an indicator that your love is eternal…unflinching…and steadfast???!!! Nelia questioned.
Why indeed? And would you agree if I say that men are more romantic than we are when it comes to gift-giving? Are women more practical in terms of finding that one special gift that would delight the recipient? Romance does play a big role when it comes to gift-giving and I don’t mean friends or relatives but between husband and wife.
Call me a bit on the practical side but I’d rather have something that would make me remember the occasion it was given than having that bunch of roses or that big bar of chocolate which in a day or two would somehow be forgotten. Don’t give me flowers, I prefer a pot of it where I could see it everyday growing in my garden. How practical could you get? Once in a while though, we want to be surprised and those romantic dinners complete with the wine and the music make us excited. We always welcome the idea that it is a well-thought of gift. And that oh-so-romantic-dinner-by-candlelight is really something special. Us girls sometimes give you the hint that we want this or that. But always, in the end, it’s the surprise of receiving an unexpected gift that makes us smile. How could it be otherwise?
Do I sound so unromantic? But as I’ve said I love keeping memories and what more would I want than something that would last longer?
The two most treasured gifts I have given are things that can last a long time. The diamond engagement ring that my wife never ceases to marvel at every day, and her Tablet, that rarely leaves her hand. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Wow, a diamond, they say it is a woman’s best friend 🙂 That tab you gave was surely a welcome gift. I love mine. I take photos with it. Read a lot of e-books with it too. Both would surely last a long, long time.

Her ring has three equal sized diamonds in a row. She never gets tired of looking at it. 🙂

Today is Jackie’s 70th birthday. Knowing I wouldn’t be able to do anything else about it, I subscribed in advance on her behalf to BBC Gardener’s World magazine beginning with the June issue. She received the copy whilst I was still in hospital

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACKIE. If I were her, that would surely put a smile on my face. I have old copies of gardening mags here and I read them often, I love the layout and the photos of different blooms.

I’m with you, Arlene. I prefer gifts that last. I’d much rather have a plant than a bouquet.

Right Anne, it is more lasting. I am glad you agree with me.

My husband secretly buys earrings wherever we travel and gives them to me on Christmas and my birthday. It is both romantic and practical and they are always unique since he searches out artists’ studios. I try to give him shirts that he will love. Because I pick them for him I think he finds them romantic and practical.

That’s really a nice surprise Elizabeth. I don’t care much for jewelry. Some of those I have here I gave to Nissa. I don’t even wear earrings when there is no occasion to go to. Thanks Elizabeth for sharing.

My daughter had my ears pierced as a gift when I was in my 40’s. I have come to love earrings. Otherwise I only wear my wedding rings.

Ear piercing is pretty common here. I guess most of us have our ears pierced. I have mine done when I was in grade school.

Babies even have them done in the families from Puerto Rico.
