It’s been a while.
Barangay elections (the lowest level in the govt.) has just been held the other day. It is quite disappointing that some candidates still adhere to vote-buying. My gosh, where will your P500 pesos go after you have elected a corrupt and crooked official of the land? Imagine, even in the lowly rural areas, people look up to those candidates with empty promises.
A few days ago, our chief justice Sereno was ousted by her own colleagues in the Supreme Court. A sad day for the land. Is justice dead? Now that the integrity of the highest court of the land is compromised, can we expect anything good from them? They voted 8-6 in favor of her ouster. And those belonging to the eight are the same accusers and judges. How’s that again? I am not a lawyer but I understand the Constitution said, only the Senate could remove a sitting chief justice via impeachment but those supposedly esteemed judges went ahead and voted for the quo warranto petition.”Quo warranto is a special form of legal action used to resolve a dispute over whether a specific person has the legal right to hold the public office that he or she occupies”. Quo warranto is only applicable within a year after the chief justice was appointed but Sereno has been on the job for almost six years and it is only now that they thought of it? They had no complaints when she was appointed. And take note, the daughter of one of those eight justices is now appointed in a government position. Favors rendered is now paid for. How sad 😦 Oh yes, Duterte openly declared that Sereno is his enemy. Who’s next? The legitimate vice-president? I think they would remove all those who are critical and opposed to this administration. Bongbong Marcos who is the loser in the last election wants to replace VP Leni Robredo and eventually be the next president when Duterte hands over the reigns to him. The Marcoses’ money (ill-gotten wealth) is working to their advantage.
When you think of what is happening here, it seems like a hopeless case. Why is it that the president says he will eradicate corruption and yet most of those he appoints are corrupt? Every day, you would see news which is unpalatable. He even says that China will defend him and won’t let him be removed from office. What has China got to do with our internal affairs. He embraces them with open arms but is hostile to those countries willing to help?
