Saying goodbye to April and welcoming May again.
I used to blog about month-endings and beginnings – something to remember and something to look forward to.
April.
Quite uneventful aside from my eye operation done last week, having our pet Oreo and visits from Nissa, Obet and Nate. Official summer here always begins in the month of April. Oh my gosh, and it is so hot. It is windy outside but it is humid. Sometimes, rain threatens but that is all there is to it except for those two instances where it rained in the afternoon but never enough to wet the ground thoroughly. I have to water the garden twice a day because of this heat.
May.
Looking forward to the month of May. I hope the weather will be kind enough for us to experience occasional rain to combat this heat. Based on previous years, May is the warmest month but we also have rains in the afternoon. This is the time where most families and company employees have their outings in nearby beaches. Some travel all the way to famous places like Palawan, Cebu, Bohol etc.
Sometimes you dream of early morning walks in beaches, wait for the sun to come up and take a dip later. You can never stay long under the heat of the sun though, your skin will burn. Some prefer going to the malls which is the cheaper way to relax and cool off. You may need just a small amount set aside for snacks at Jollibee or McDonald’s. Or if you are on the look out for some items to buy, some malls hold sales at this time just before classes start again in June.
Again I am reminded of the song First of May. I just love playing it around this time of the year.
I was also looking forward to May, but it is still like winter here, unfortunately.
Best wishes, Pete.

Thanks Diana. I am adjusting to seeing clear images and words again. My ophthalmologist says the more it takes longer, vision would be clearer.

When my daughter was in grade school, the girls did a dance around the May Pole at the beginning of May, weaving ribbons in an intricate pattern. It was a lovely start to the month. It is cold and damp here, but I do look forward to May. Both my husband and I have May birthdays, so it is a great month!

I truly hope your May is wonderful, hot weather and all. It’s finally turned to spring here after a really long winter so I hope May is more of the same.

We’ve already had some hot weather here too, but I imagine it gets really humid where you are. It’s been raining off and on for almost a week and the garden looks so refreshed. The beach sound wonderful and we enjoy this side of the Pacific Ocean during our heatwaves too! Stay cool Arlene! 😎

Gosh! The weather has been funky all around the globe! 🙋

Yes, I agree Sabine. Do you think it is because of global warming?

Absolutely! There are so many extreme changes all over the world which in my personal opinion can’t be just random. One case where ignorance is not bliss! What do you think about global warming Arlene?

I’ve read reports before about this. The result of globalization too in first world countries. They say industrial waste has a lot to do with it. We have a thinning ozone layer. Those ice caps are slowly melting.

Yes I’ve read that as well! Many people here are quite wasteful! Most American cities are not set up with good public transportation and so almost everyone has a car. That’s what I love about Europe! Trains, buses and affordable airfares to get around. We never rent a car when we’re there. I guess the best we can do is be less wasteful and take care of our patch of earth. And those melting ice caps … don’t even get me started!

Let’s take care of our Mother Earth. The more everything is modernized, there are other things that we have to sacrifice. Cities like where we live are now so congested. Once you leave the house without the car, you could smell vehicle fumes. I always wear face mask when I go out alone. And yes people sacrifice to buy cars here, even second hand ones because it is so hard to rely on public utilities too. Such is the price we pay for modernization, it is a global problem. Maybe we need to plant more trees all around.

Do you have just one month of uncomfortable heat? If so, I envy that.

I’d swap rain for heat any day. Of course, I may not realize the extent of the rain you put up with.

Every year, we experience strong typhoons. We have around an average of 20 in a year.

I could live without that. Thanks for making me less envious.

I always get the jitters every time it rains hard and there are flash floods. We have experienced being flooded before back in 2009. the whole of Metro Manila and suburbs got flooded.

No wonder you get jittery!
