Blogging.
I live it almost every day and it makes me smile when the content I post is noticed by bloggers from all walks of life. There are so many new bloggers out there, some have just started and I am glad to meet them through this space.
I believe there are really no set blogging rules to follow. The success of one’s blog would actually depend on how you express yourself in cyberspace. There are kindred spirits, they enjoy reading your posts probably because they can relate.
One thing I noticed though, there are bloggers who won’t even like nor comment on your blog except to leave their blog links and invite you to visit theirs. I wonder if they even read your post. I consider those as spam mails and I don’t bother to visit their sites. I am always on a constant search for other blogs that I can follow. Normally, I follow those I like and when I am lucky enough, they follow back. I have blogger friends who’ve been with me since WordPress introduced the “follow” and “like” buttons. The “follow” button was introduced by WordPress back in September 2011. They enabled the new feature “like” in August 2010. If you have been blogging during those years, you would have surely noticed a slight increase in your page views. I discovered other bloggers through likes and comments.
For the past six days, I got an average of 210 page views a day. Best views were recorded last September 2015 and September 08, 2015 bested them all with 4,238 views in one day. At the moment I have a total of 512,504 views with an estimate of almost 300,000 visitors. Views and visitor data are different. One could view a blog once or so many times.
I don’t have that much number of followers. Including my 90 followers at Twitter which I linked to my blog, I only have a total of 2,917. That is for Dreams and Escapes alone since I maintain five blogs. I believe though that it is not the number of followers that counts but the lives you touch through your blog.
Blogging, anyone?
I still don’t know how you manage five blogs. 🙂

I seldom update the other four. I have a gardening blog, photo blog, blog for my grandson and a new one which would replace this when my limit is full.

Good for you! 🙂 I do not check my stats anymore except for those that are very obvious, i.e., number of likes in a post and such. I have given up on dreaming for a super ‘popular’ blog. I cannot put the effort to make it so, among other things. Needless to say, I appreciate what I got now and am thankful for those who drop by. 🙂

Thank you Imelda. I guess having those likes and comments inspire us but they are just trimmings to our posts. It’s nice though to interact with other people from the different parts of the globe. I am always thankful for meeting you all here.

I thought I’m the only one who keeps on looking for blogs to follow, I’m glad to learn I’m not the only one. 😊💕

An interesting analysis. My followers number more than 2,000; average daily views are currently 360. That seems to make your point 🙂

Your stats are always impressive, Arlene. But like me, you are also aware that the numbers mean little in themselves. It is interaction and community spirit that matters in blogging.
Best wishes, Pete.

So true, just like in social media, we are influencers too in our own way. some may believe what we write about, some may not but the thrill of getting your message across is priceless. I don’t aspire to have so many followers, some don’t read my blog posts anyway but I just love the idea of writing my thoughts…a sort of online diary with friends to boot.

Arlene, one of the things I like about blogging is how it connects us across the globe. I may never get a chance to visit the Philippines in person, but I have a chance to visit it regularly through your blog posts as you share about your family, food, faith, customs & daily life. Plus, it’s fun finding kindred spirits (like you!) who inspire us!! Blogging blessings!! ✨🎉🌟🌷🌟🎉✨

Wow, I am more inspired by your comments Virginia. So really glad to know that you enjoy reading my blog. I agree with you, places are just like a step away from where we are. Let’s always keepin touch and blog. Thank you so much.

Likewise, I follow bloggers without them following me too. Oh well, blogging has been a very helpful medium when I was recovering from cancer. Thanks Nahla.

Before I got to know you through your writing, I never gave the Philippines a thought. Now I pay attention to all the news from there, political or weather related. I think blogging really expands our world view.

Oh wow!, thank you, thank you so much Elizabeth. I could boast of the Philippines, its beaches are to die for but then I don’t know about those in power now. I don’t like what’s happening here.

Connecting with kindred spirits around the world through blogging has been so interesting and fun! I’ve always an interest in the world. I am grateful for the technology that enables us to connect virtually with other bloggers all across the globe! And I’m very happy to have met you here Arlene! 🙋

This is so relatable! I often times check my stats and engagements to see what my readers like. However, seeing how few follow or even read some of my work discourages me all together. I do try to tell myself that at the end of the day, it’s the quality of the content rather than the attention brought to the content. But recently I’ve had a hard time believing it. Any tips?
