This is the nth time I’d be writing about blogging. Same old subject, same old thoughts (I guess).
Do you consider your stats important in your blog’s performance? I do. I have this dream of reaching half a million viewers by year-end. Presently, I have registered a total of 495,675. Sometimes, I get a total of 300 views per day and that’s a big bonus. It seldom happens now though. The average I get is between 150 to 200 a day. Don’t ask me, I don’t know where they are coming from. Some people visit but never leave comments or like. I am grateful though for the number. As of last count, I have a total of 2,681 give or take one or two. It includes the more than 80 followers I have at Twitter and some friends who subscribed via e-mail but they are not bloggers. I follow a little over 130 bloggers on WordPress and some links from those gifted poets that I admire. I cleaned up my list a few months ago when I noticed that some of them are no longer active in blogging. Would love to explore more blogs and discover more bloggers and writers soon.
I have a friend who tells me that she is always updated with what is happening in my life although we don’t see each other much. It’s been years since we left the bank where we used to work. Funny how I’ve been so open about my life journey here. I’ve always said before that blogging is a sort of catharsis for me. I recall those days when I felt so down and I just wanted to share. I recall those days when my health was challenged and writing about it helped me cope. I recall the days of just being happy and blessed. What a nice feeling when you get in touch with your inner self.
I never attempted to write about “how to’s” in blogging. Sometimes we find subjects that we are comfortable writing about. We find our niche under the sun. Again it would be a bonus if some people could relate to what we share. Chances are there would be one or two who could. It is a touch and go thing. One thing I would like to say is that, always write from the heart. There is no use inventing something you haven’t experienced or felt. There is no use sharing a subject you are not familiar with. I made a total of 2,076 posts on this blog alone, this one excluded. Maybe if I were to add the posts on my four other blogs it would probably reach 2,500. Sometimes I wonder, some posts have become redundant through the years.
We often say the reason we are on the world-wide web is because we got something to talk about. Aside from that of course is to find new friends online and interact with them.
It is a lovely journey…..blogging, that is.
I am the same, high numbers of likes do motivate. I feel dissapointed if I don’t get a certain of followers every day.
I am glad you’re honest about it! 🙂😀
But honestly what brightens my heart is those people that keep coming back to my blog and leave a comment. They actually read my stuff 🙂
It’s lovely journey indeed!

Blogging is very special because of all the wonderful people who do it. I doubt I’ll ever pay much attention to my stats. I can’t remember numbers for more than a few seconds, so it’s rather useless. I’m impressed with all your posts and visitors, Arlene. Super!

The connections and insights gained from blogging continue to surprise me, a great way to connect… And where the views come from for me always are a surprise too 🙂

The only real measure for me is the comments. I don’t really understand the totals, except that it is fairly obvious that some likes have not involved viewing.

True, some just like it from their reader feeds without going to the site. I always love to visit each blog every time I make comments.

Don’t we enjoy it all? At times it is hard to write but I still love the challenge of keeping a blog.

I have quit worrying about repeating myself. I figure if I can’t remember if I already wrote something, it’s unlikely that my readers will. Keep writing.
