Thoughts On Giving

This is the subject of Fr. JV’s homily early this morning. Giving – giving one’s self to others, helping in a way that you need not expect any return, just being there for someone.

When you think of the word “give”, what comes to your mind? Is it the gesture of helping others  and giving a little of your time to them? Is it about giving something of a material kind that you don’t need or is it about just being there for other people?

It is not so easy to give our hearts and minds to others. It is not easy to just abandon yourself and do some works of charity for other people. It is when we give something of ourselves  that we truly give. We might feel hesitant to give our time and efforts to those who are in need but I guess that’s the best way we could do it.  The art of giving, the art of trying to help others the best way we know how, the art of not thinking about lost time while helping other people.

The tremendous feeling of happiness  and joy would touch us, one way or another when we give.  The happiness of knowing that we could change a little of someone’s  negative perspective in life or could persuade someone to think of giving a little time too for other people.

By the way, we are planning to try a new resto at SM East Ortigas for lunch. I hope the food would be as good as those served in other restaurants in that place.  Have a nice  Sunday all.
